Yes, it’s pretty cool. I’ve seen it happen on smaller impacts, but nothing like this one. I cut a small Hemlock branch off once and arrow went on to hit the mark I was going for. This one was like slow motion. I wish I had it on video, too. thanks, d

That’s a sad story of Prine, Dave. Illegal Smile is another great one song. Sometimes it’s better to only know the music and not so much of the musician. I’ve had that with paintings I enjoyed until I met the artist. dwc

I had some shoulder problems a few years back and at times my bow arm shoulder feels it on release. I didn’t need surgery, but did make several trips to a good chiropractor. Not a straight doc, but someone who takes the whole body into account and is sports oriented. He had got me going on strict form push-ups and curls with a bowfit. He suggested the bowfit rather than free weights because the tension would be constant. When I’m doing my exercise, no problem. When I slack off, I can feel it. You might just need some specific exercise to bolster that spot. Good luck, dwc

in reply to: Shooting Gloves #33663

When I first got back into archery I used my old traditional glove, but after I switched to the duraglove I could use the old one, as it seemed like the string was too far from my face. They don’t last forever. I’m on my second one in four or five years and I shoot every day. The first one just required a few stitches in one of the fingers, so that’s in the quiver for a spare. dwc

Make that 16. I’m all for watching this project. If only you were working in a hole in the ground you could really draw a crowd of guys. Good luck with the medical end, too. dwc

As good as any toast, especially this fall, we’ll know that many of us at any given time of darkness are gazing in the same direction. Cheers to the good spirit of traditional archery. dwc

                  Duncan,

I like it. Orion is a great symbol for me, as well. Autumn, hunting season, cool weather. It’s all good. Knowing your place is also valuable. Insignificant in ways, but important in many others. All good. peace, dwc

I do the same as you pretty much. I could clean my work bench, close my eyes and count to ten, and it would be a mess when I open them again. It’s terminal, I’m sure.

I use a simple tool box to store my fletching stuff. Once the family goes to be, I set up on the dining room table or a portable TV table and put on a movie that requires little concentration. I use an A clamp to fasten the jig to the table. When I’m done all I have to do it repack the box and pick up the fletching tape scraps.

in reply to: broadhead target #31228

I live too close to the glacial moraine in Eastern PA. If you’re not hitting rocks, you’re not digging. I’m pretty much with you on shooting broadheads. I shoot a few shots with each arrow to make sure the set-up is correct and then go back to field points. With the field points I can have a lot more range options and also shoot some homemade bag targets from an elevated stand. I do like stumping the best for practice and have Judos up front for that. I’ve tried the hex style heads for stumping and they’re just too hard on arrows in my experience. dwc

I started with my old Bear old fashioned style glove and tried a tab and then went to a Duraglove. I’m on my second one, with the first one sewed up and packed as a spare. I like it. I can feel the string on my 46# longbow and my fingers are protected. The glove is also thin enough that I feel my string can stay closer to my face when I draw.

I’d recommend one any time for a lighter bow. I’m not sure how it would feel with a much heavier bow. A friend just uses a pair of wool gloves when shooting his selfbow and they work fine. dwc

This is sickening. It’s also interesting to read the comments below the video, as it is to watch and listen to the video. dwc

In Spite of Ourselves is precious. I wish my wife and I would have danced to that at our wedding. Prine’s really terrific. Ever hear Dear Abby?” dwc
