in reply to: Scentless waterproof spray? #53318
Montana Pitch is all I use on all my leather – quivers, sheaths, boots, whatever.

Makes sense. As long as both eyes are open, I’m not sure why it’s a such big deal which eye is dominant, or how that’s related to which hand you’re holding the bow or drawing with, as long as you have good form/technique either way (but if someone knows of a good reason I’d love to hear it).
I’m l. eye/r. hand as well, and for example, I don’t throw a dart more accurately with my left hand, just because I’m left eye dominant – instead, I keep both eyes open, and throw it with my right, far more accurately than I ever could with my left.

Bruce — a $20 bottle of whisky? Either you drink cheap rotgut or it’s a mightly small bottle.
Ha.
Have you tried Buffalo Trace? If not I’d highly recommend it – surprisingly good $20 hooch. But given my druthers (and a little extra cash in the wallet), I’d opt for Blantons or Woodford….
in reply to: Thinking of getting a custom bow #46257Just ordered a custom myself. I would put grip and length (along with shelf cut, as mentioned) at the top of the list for considerations. Those three factors can make a huge difference, and are a large part of the reason to custom order a bow, imo.
Out of curiosity, since the bow I just ordered is also a R/D hybrid, what are you looking at?
in reply to: Merino base layer #44500Clay –
For what it’s worth, I have a 185 and a 250 Merlno layers from a different manufacturer. I’ve worn the 185 while in in 70 deg. weather and been comfortable. It wicks and breathes very well. The 250 is a great intermediate layer, or base layer, for colder weather. Combine the two, and it’s surprisingly warm without feeling bulky at all. You can’t beat Merino for base layers in my opinion.
in reply to: Heavy grain broadheads #44195I definitely think it’s a good idea. Anymore, it’s hard for me to imagine shooting anything less than a 250 gr. point for larger game (and even that seems a little on the light side). What will you be hunting?
With a correctly matched spine, they should fly great (maybe even better), but they will certainly give you much better penetration.
in reply to: Roberston Raven Styk? #44192Thanks Wahoo. One of these days I’ll own a Robertson. Just need to save my pennies.
in reply to: Scentless waterproof spray? #40731A $20 bottle of whiskey is probably just as effective at keeping you comfortable when it’s raining.
