WOW. That is a very sweet old Schrade!
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #39821I have the “Western Trade knife” that the Asbells sell. Very surprised by the quality for the price! I’m not sure what the steel is, but it’s a high carbon that takes a wicked edge.
Those are an interesting design that I haven’t seen before on the Asbell site, Roger – I like the spear point and thicker handle.
in reply to: New Low in archery Hi Tech ! #38806Disgusting. My understanding is that most states (not all?!?) have laws against any sort of “explosive head” being used for bowhunting, but still…

Alex,
That’s why the great hunting gods gave us Sesame Street. Ethical shots on toddlers. 😉
Have you considered investing in a few of these for the munchkins, for added realism? 😆

Definitely try to come to the BHA Rendezvous if you can swing it! I am planning to post more info on here about it as we get a little closer to the date, but for all that are interested, it will be March 22-24th, in Boise, and is shaping up to be a big, fun and educational event.
in reply to: My first glimpse of falconry #37885Awesome. Raptors have always held a particular fascination for me.
By the way, if you guys are ever in Jackson Hole, you should really make a little side trip to this place:
in reply to: Winter Range #37646Nice, Alex. I love seeing how everyone else gets through the winter!
And are those some sweet bocote limbs I see?

Ha – I’ll be sure to keep that in mind when I order the next one! 😀

And thanks, Den Mother. 😉
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #36343Wex – Opinels are certainly “classic” enough of a design to qualify! They’re one of the best little knives you can buy for the price, imo.
Two4 – there are some great knives, and some real history, in that collection! Thanks for sharing, and I’ve been enjoying your blog.
in reply to: Please speak up for Public land access… #36259One encouraging note that further convinced me to sign on – Bruce Farling, Director of MT Trout Unlimited, voiced his supportive comments. I know Bruce, and I doubt he would support a bill that was bad for habitat, or that had a hidden agenda.
in reply to: Please speak up for Public land access… #36054Done. As someone who lives near the MT border, I hope my vote counts!

A buddy of mine also has a Thunderstick and likes it quite a bit.
in reply to: Brace Height Problems #35887Are you absolutely positive that your K-Mag is 50″? It just seems a little odd, because I was under the impression that the Anniversary model was only made in 52″ but I could be wrong. Did you measure it strung, or unstrung?
in reply to: My first glimpse of falconry #35366Very cool. Falconry is an amazing pursuit. Love to see some pics!
