Don,
No worries, I think most of us getting the magazine read every word printed and sometimes 2 or 3 times…in reply to: Who's Hunting the Late Season? #57507Dec 3rd marks the first day to shoot whitetail doe here in PA (in my WMA). I too will be out with the old ’06 collecting meat. But I can’t wait until the second archery season to continue the quest for a buck with my recurve from the ground.

in reply to: hunting boots #55245Happy Turkey Day…
Dave,
I was looking at the maine hunting shoes and boots. Is the difference in the leather uppers or are the soles thicker in the boot? Do you have any recomondations on sizing? The site said to order a size smaller then you normally wear but some of the reviews said otherwise. Thanks for your insight.

Thanks for the tip I will give it a try…..I missed a grey today with a broad head….maybe tomorrow.
in reply to: Squirrels 4 Duncan 0 #34498Well I hit a fox squirrel 3 times with 260 game getter blunt tip…he was unhappy with me so I grabbed a brown bear broadhead to finish him with but he had different ideas and made for his nest. The range was 10 feet for all the shots. The first was a back shot as he was on a corn stock eating. The second was a great chest shot and then as he went up the tree I hit him in the head and neck area with the third arrow. He fell then started to climb and I thought what the hell is the thing made of. I then grabbed a broadhead and he vanished as I drew. I am sure that he didnt survive all this punishment but do theyusually die at the first arrow? I think I am just going to use the broadhead first and the send Dr. ASHBY the pics of the damage and pass threw….FYI I am using a 50 lb bear kodiak hunter with 360 grains of the front of the arrow…

in reply to: Hunting Encounters #26504this a picture from my hunt yesterday in the snow…
in reply to: Hunting Encounters #25494Well we got a little snow in PA today…sat in on the edge of a cornfield and saw 3 doe and 2 bucks. The first buck was a large spike that was about 30 yards away in the apple trees. I barly even noticed him but the longer i looked at him the more of him I saw. He finally trotted off and about 30 minutes later he was pushing 3 doe down the little creek bottom passed my location at about 100 yards or so. The second buck was a small 8 point eating apples about 15 yards away. I was in position fora shot but he never made it into the open. He then walked straight away as he left. I grunted to him to see if he would come back but no luck. I also had a giant groundhog wondering around me for a while and thought about taking shot but instead I just enjoyed his company. All and all it was a great morning and I wish I could have gone out this evening but work got in the way again. Got to wait til thursday before i can go out again but I start my vacation from then til the end of the season on the 12th. Good luck to all!
