Joe,
That sounds better!
When I did the math before my builds, I was hoping to get close to 20%.
17is not too bad for wood.
This should be good for the white tails this fall!
😀
I will be ordering some meatheads off you soon. I never used single bevel, but what I have been reading, looks like the way to go!
Well, I did play with nock point. I raised it to 5/8 above 90. I never had go above this before.
Measurements:
length from nock valley to back of point=27 1/8″
nock valley to balance point= 18 1/4″
I did fletch my testers up with a few different style feathers. ALL made the arrows fly great.
Especially my “new” style 4 1/4″ Pope and Young cuts!
I think I am getting there!
I am curious what my FOC is. I was hoping for 20% on these woodies with 190 heads.
This sound like a good set up for a 51# long bow?
(I draw 26.5″)

Does it seal and protect the wood shaft?
Do you apply it over your cresting?
I have been using a water based polyurethane to finish my arrows. Straighten, Stain, crest, check straightness again, then dip in poly(about 4 coats) to seal and finish em.
Any recommendations on Native American hunting stories and styles?
I have always been interested in Native American culture.
I like reading nonfiction. There is far too much real adventures to read about!
I have been killing these books lately! Going to ready for some more!

in reply to: New Broadhead Regulation for PA Hunters #9093Thank God. I was going to use the Meatheads this fall.
I am building a few arrows now. I will post my results on the chart.
in reply to: Thoughts on things… #56629SH,
Very well said!
I have been thinking this for a long time now. Since I found traditional archery and as I mature in life, I feel more and more strongly on this subject.
I am a little worried about our youth. With all the advertising hype and TV, it is hard for them to escape.
I have been, and plan on continuing raising my daughter with “values” and appreciating hard work and accomplishments.

To a new archer who struggles to hold paper plate groups at 10 yards, 75 grains of spread in arrow weight is probably a moot point. The difference in impact is well within the archer’s margin for error anyway. Now take a top 3D or paper shooter and 75 grains would be immediately noticeable because their nice tight round groups would open up vertically. To me, it’s just as easy to make arrows that are well matched as ones that aren’t.
If you’re using screw-in points, try switching adding a heavier adapter to your Judos to get the weight up. If you’re shooting glue-on points, you may want to consider a 200-grain Hex Head. They don’t make them in 190-grain weight, but 10 grains is going to be a nonissue for stumping anyway.
I agree.
I was just wondering.
I shoot wood. And Judo’s come in 135g (11/32)
I might just try and use hex like you sugested, or screw in adapters(50G)with 125 screw in Judo’s
