Met some guys on the CDT this morning and say they came across a new fire last night in the Sheep ck area .You can ck with local forest service for more info.
in reply to: Idaho hidden jems #26729big horn crags – you can hit yellow jacket lake and then camp at the crags campground -from there you can hike and hit a couple different lakes and still car camp and catch fish if you get bored with that come into Salmon town and rent a raft or a couple of ik’s and float the Salmon river and swim all day. good luck
cool story about Paul Schafer – he did it but shot 1st then ran him down and killed him

in reply to: studying elk #16015I spent a lot of time chasing hunting watching elk and I am far from being an expert with that being said the one thing I miss or have really never seen are books and or info on late season elk. I have chased elk in the winter and it is definitely different than September with 100 set of eyes watching and people road hunting but is also cool hearing a 100 head of elk all talking at the same time. As said above read those books and get out enjoy yourself and in those heavy road areas get into those dark holes and you may be surprised at what you find there.
in reply to: When it rains it pours… #63407Critch good luck I just had back surgery in june – it’s taken me this long to come back and I am still not 100% . Just started shooting again and hiking . I’m with DT get another opinion – I swore I wasn’t having surgery you know this can’t be happening to me . I could not walk stand lay down just in terrible pain. I do a lot of stretching (not as much as I should but I do ) and lots of natural oils fish hemp flax and some other stuff – they all taste like crap but seem to help . Wish you the best
