I think you would find 2016’s to be more consistent, those 2018s are best for bows over 60#

600 spine carbon (15-35), leave full length and cut a 1/4″ at a time to tune, a 500 spine carbon(35-55) if you want to shoot heavy tip wgt of 200 gr and up including insert.same tune method, cut a little at a time on carbons.

the 35-55’s spine the same as your current 2016’s

do a search on ebay to get an idea of current value.

yes, that is real elk antler. Its made by a good friend, Steve Hartley. Im pretty sure he’s a member here, voodoo or voodoofire1 maybe. Each and every bow he makes is truly one of a kind. try a search on voodookustoms to see some of his work. Great guy.

I have a 1939 Ben Pearson hickory recurve, no backing, could probably shoot it today if I had a mind to (i dont, its a wall hanger)

and as for arrow material…I shoot em all, even carbons from my osage selfbow. :O

I would agree. My friend Ron LaClair has taught me more about pure woodsmanship than anyone, and he relates it all to his avid trapping days. He would take a month off of “real” work and spend the entire time in the bckwoods after fox, coon, muskrats…I’m telling ya, a few bowseasons roaming the woods with Ron has been a real “schooling”.

my wife finally broke me of that. I worked constructio for years as was known to quit many a job during October and November to pursue whitetails, beaver, fox and coon. Id work part time at the local furbuyer when the catch was runnin low. Turned it into a bonafide animal Damage Control business for a few years till the economy and insurance costs drove me to the factory I work in now.

I dont see the problem really. Who cares what others choose to use? I dont need BillyBob shooting “trad” like me to feel verified nor do I feel threatened by what my neighbor chooses to hunt with. I use what appeals to ME for no reason other than…it appeals to ME.

We are HUNTERS. Some of us are trad bowHUNTERS, some primitive bowHUNTERS, some are crossbowHUNTERS and gunHUNTERS. There IS one commonality to ALL….we are HUNTERS and must learn to respect the rights of others in whatever method they choose so long as its legal.

If ANY of us truly wanted EASY…we would go the grocery store and no farther.

I have a selfbow named “patience” by the bowyer. Made from an osage he cut off my family farm..two years in the making..and very well named IMHO. That one word can get you very far in life in general 8) It is, after all, a virtue 😀
