Thanks, Bruce and Jim. That project–to scan every page of 26 sold out issues–was a labor of love, and why we will never have all 147 issues in digital format. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also enjoy going back through those old articles and pictures. It’s funny to see T.J. and Larry with dark hair! The quality of those digital issues isn’t as good as what we produce now, but they are still fun to read.

The other benefit of Premium Membership that a lot of folks miss is the 10% discount on items we sell on our website: subscriptions, merchandise and print back issues.

If any other members are wondering what a digital issue looks like, we have a Sample Copy that is available to everyone. Try it out.

          Very cool story and pictures.

Although it’s not on our topic of traditional bowhunting, I’ll let this slide because the shotgun was a small part of the bigger story of the Aborigines’ lifestyle and traditions. Too bad they don’t use bows and traditional weapons anymore.

          Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Happy Birthday to my world traveller! He works hard and plays hard. And you will definitely see some articles about his adventures. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to France with him, but in 34 years with this wandering soul I have see some pretty awesome places!

            Happy Boar-day, T.J.!

Augustinus, welcome to the family. You’re gonna love traditional archery.

In addition to the books that others have suggested, I always tell folks to join their local or state traditional archery club. That might help you find a mentor who will show you how to do a lot of things that most of us take for granted, but new archers need to know. Here’s a link to traditional clubs listed on our website: Club Listings and Mentors Check out New Jersey and maybe New York. Contact Doc DeCaro and see if he can hook you up with a good mentor in your town. If nothing else, you’ll have someone to shoot arrows with.

The most important thing to remember: Have fun with your kids! You are making great memories for them, too.

Thanks for the warning. Chances are this scam artist is not a member on this site, but one of the millions of bad people on the Internet. Our Classified Ads are open to everyone, not just members.

I am glad that you were not taken by this scammer. I will warn other sellers of this type of trick.

On Saturday, October 18th, all of the family rallied around Larry with more love than The Bastard could handle. The Bastard did not get to declare victory. We now get to celebrate Larry’s life. Please join us. If you would like, wear purple for Larry.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, October 24th, at 6 pm at Summer’s Funeral Home, 3629 E Ustick Rd, Meridian, ID 83646

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25th, from 12-5 pm at the Basque Center, 611 W Grove St, Boise, ID 83702

Sunday, October 26th, we will have a potluck bow shoot here at the house around 3:00 pm

In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to any of the following in Larry Fischer’s name:

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network – PanCan.org – to help fight Pancreatic Cancer

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers – backcountryhunters.org – to help preserve hunting and fishing on public land

Did you check out Homer Ocean Charters? They’ve been a long-time advertiser and offer some great options for bear hunting and fishing. (Deer as well, but the link above is for bear hunting.) At least give them a call and see what their prices are. I know many traditional hunters who have enjoyed hunting with this outfitter, and I don’t think the price is as high as you quoted. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ I could be wrong. ๐Ÿ˜†

Fair enough, but if the manufacturers are our advertisers, I’d like to give them a chance to comment as well. 2blade, it’s your call.

I guess there might be a way to do it but I’ve never figured out, when using my longbow, how to keep the poncho and my bowstring separate from each other when I get into my shooting stance and loose the string.

I read somewhere (maybe in one of G. Fred’s books) that you should slip the poncho material behind you before you draw your bow. The best way I can describe it is that you would look like you’re wearing a cape. I imagine it’s something you should practice and be able to do quickly and quietly so as not to spook the game. Just my two cents. ๐Ÿ˜€

Customers are never “a pain.” A quick phone call to the Subscription Department can usually put your mind at ease. And if your “magazine radar” is a little early, they will politely tell you when you need to wait a little longer. ๐Ÿ˜€
