in reply to: Big Jim's Buffalo Bow #35029
Jim’s takedown system is as simple and rock-solid as it gets (I have a takedown T-child – same sleeve system). The sleeve fits as snug and smooth as a glove, and I love that there are no hinges, tools needed, etc. In fact, you can just forget that it’s a 2-piece bow until you take it apart. And this 62″ bow fits into my 38″ Safari Tuff case when its broken down, making it easy to travel with.

Thanks, bud. The BG Haversack is pretty sweet, though almost too big sometimes. I’d like to check out the “Houndsman” sack that they make as well, which is a little more compact.
I also picked up a BG “First Trip” this past winter and have used it quite a bit this season. What a great pack.
Hope your recuperation is going well!
in reply to: Paper Tuning Results – 10/4/14 #34995Brennan –
Yeah, I bareshaft tune as well (sometimes), which I think can be helpful in the early tuning stages, but paper shooting the finished arrow feels like the best final step for me.
in reply to: bodnik bows #34919I can only add that they get a lot of good reviews, especially for their cost. People sure seem to like the Slick Stiks!

Agreed. It’s nice to at least be able to conclusively rule out that it’s not a tuning issue when the arrow isn’t going where you want it to.

So…..pics, specs, thoughts?:D
It arrived yesterday. I actually ordered it a couple months ago, and got lucky that Jim had just started on a bow that fit the specs I was looking for, so it was just a matter of finishing it out to my liking, and the wait time was shortened from a normal order. And then, of course, he fully exceeded my expectations with a gorgeous piece of work. Pics and thoughts coming soon….

in reply to: Shooting Gloves #33676One question I had was how the Stick-Tite would work over a fingerless glove. It was cold enough to find out yesterday, and it was no issue:
in reply to: November Rovin' #33291Thanks, folks!
Coldpak – glad to hear you’ve gotten into OTP! If youever find yourself in Jackson Hole, they play at an old bar downtown pretty regularly.

“Wise?” Yes, it’s extremely wise, insofar as my ability to almost touch bottom in the shallow end of the “wisdom pool” can advise you. But you are asking this question on a trad forum, so I’m guessing you’re getting the answer you truly want to hear…
in reply to: Matching!? #32553Yup – like Mike said, I also still shoot a heavy blunt, and I do try to keep my flu-flu/small game arrow weight the same, or very close to, my normal hunting arrow weight. But 20 grains or so lighter on a flu-flu just isn’t going to make much of a difference, imo – you’re still quite close to your normal arrow, and as long as the fly ok (well, for a flu-flu, anyway…) then you should be fine.
in reply to: Matching!? #32451Trajectory is going to be totally different with a flu flu (which is the whole idea). No need to worry about such a small difference.

No problem. We’ll call Linda.
in reply to: Caught with my pants down… #32122Sippin’ coffee on a snowy Sunday morning, this was the perfect thing to read, Jim. Observations I think we can all relate to, no matter where we hunt, combined with things I’ve never considered, like wallaby navigation! While it may not always be the most “productive” way to hunt if all one cares about is meat in the freezer, our bowhunting experiences are as rich and educational as we let them be, and this story is a great example. Please keep sharing your hunting experiences with the rest of us, and good luck!
