Thats not really a hunting issue here in NY, but I do run into that similar problem while trail running. Something that may work for you if you hunt near to home is to freeze a gallon of water and drop it off somewhere easy to get to (pref. in the shade) it will probably be melted by the time you need it but it should be cool. I stash frozen gatorades along the trail when I run long distances and it works great!
in reply to: Working out to get in shape. #45260Currently Im fighting pregnancy sympathy weight, and every pumpkin flavored desert known to man (and yes Dave, bryers icecream 😆 )But when I’m being good I run 1/2 marathons, marathons, and trail marathons. I also dabble in P90X. But thats when I’m being good.
in reply to: Now here's something we all truly need #45143LOL I couldn’t resist taking another peak. Kinda like internet rubbernecking. Suddenly it made me think of that scene from caddy shack (I dont remember which one) where Rodney Dangerfield had that driver that made the lazer grid and put the ball right in the hole, while simultaneously setting off another mans pace maker. I put this in the same class. Next they will think of a way to get rid of archers shoulder by removing that pesky need to draw your bow…oh yeah they just legalized crossbows in NY…
in reply to: Now here's something we all truly need #44068Well at least I know were safe in NY. The law states that nothing on your bow may project a visible beam of light. With that said, I’m speachless.
in reply to: Curious about numbers of deer most shoot. #43713IN my neck of western NY I get 1) regular season antlered (can be used as an antlerless tag in late muzzleloader season) and muzzleloader and archery share the same two tags
2)an either sex and 3) an antlerless. There is also two chances for doe tags (transferable as Alex said) for a $10 lottery and an opportunity to buy the leftover tags on oct 1st (usually none left). We also get a black bear tag. So without any nusance permits (or transfers) I can get up to 5 deer tags. This year I have three tags. I usually fill all my tags as I have friends who can use the meat, I have also donated venison a few times.
That being said this is my first year going trad, so we’ll see in three weeks!in reply to: Wife says I went too far… #43699lol, Steve I have a similar story. After getting a nice big doe one year I had a friend help me to load in into my jeep. He had the big idea to do the “ole heave ho” to get it all the way into the back. Lets just say that my jeep looked like a crime scene.
Troy that is too funny. And Dave I eat what ever icecream is within my grasp. But yes that was a Bryers lid 😆
in reply to: Wife says I went too far… #42939I got to thinking about this and I’m curious about what you all may have done in the name of bowhunting/archery that may have raised some eyebrows with significant others (or just others). I’m willing to bet there are some funny stories out there.
in reply to: The anser to all our problems! #39210Heres yet another example of how we have all been doing it wrong. It’s amazin that we have ever eaten anything but tag stew! http://www.hecsllc.com “human energy (emf) concealment. Enjoy:wink:
LOL Dave I can see why you would be confused, but I dont think he was being sarcastic. I used to do the same thing, not really having my own specific questions formed I would use forums as a scource of info. Reading them would give insight into subjects I didn’t even know to ask about. I have done so with tradbow, NYS corrections forums ect. I think he was genuinely expressing gratitude for the wealth of knowledge in these threads. Hoping for a little less confusion in the world
-Dan-in reply to: Help for a new longbow shooter #39158I’m with smithhammer, 100gr sounds kinda on the light side. I shoot a 50 lbs montana and my 28″ gold tip 3555’s (wood finished carbon)are tipped with 200gr heads. Great flight and penetration. But thats my set up.
in reply to: Cheap targets #34075lol. You should start buying your ice cream in the “elk sized” 2 gallon tubs.

in reply to: "Handy" idea #46471There may have been a little blood. I found a flaw in this system. It worked great for about a hundred shots then it snagged…on the corner of my moustache! That will bring you to a foucus thats about as un-Zen as sitting on a porcupine in your birthday suit. Theres something very sensitive about the hairs in the corner of your lips. Soooo if your clean shaven then have a go at it! If your wooly like me then I’d advise against this tip.
in reply to: "Handy" idea #45556Treetopflier wrote: Shaw — sounds like a good idea and thanks for sharing, with photo. But don’t that nock snag your string on release? ttf
Its hard to tell by the photo but its mounted more towards the middle of the fingertip so its out of the way at release. But I suppose that even if it wasn’t it is attatched to leather and would flex out of the way on contact. Seems to work for me at least. Only real problem is that Im not a fan of this style of glove, it tends to twist at the index finger. So eventually I will switch to another stlye and wont use this, but for now I think it will make a good training aid for my muscle memory.
in reply to: Small Game Heads #39506Whith small game heads how do you all determine the weight to use? Do you just use the same weight as your broadheads/field points or do you go lighter? Just curious.
