in reply to: Untamed by Clay Hayes to be released Aug. 17 #18337
Two days and counting
Been using Docter Optics for a while, very satisfied with their binos, spotting scopes and rifle scopes. Money spent on good glass is never wasted and should be good for the next generation, just not yet.

in reply to: Animas River Toxic Release #14936This has even hit the breakfast news in the UK!
Looks like toxic soup, we filter heavy metal from coolant at work I know just how hard it is to remove it from a controlled environment, cleaning it up in a river system could take decades, will take decades.
Sad day.

in reply to: CAMO OR NOT who is the fool ? #56174Dogs are a good judge of camouflage I’ve received their seal of approval a couple of times.
Mike if the art of camouflage is to make something appear to be something else what might you have seen, or not.
Mark…..or is it, if I were wearing camouflage and changed my name would I still be me,..when does philosophy become gibberish. Can gibberish be the contemplative reasonings of higher reasoning or no more than the ramblings of a fool.
in reply to: CAMO OR NOT who is the fool ? #47564Can’t remember any of the science but some blue dies can glow like a beacon when viewed in the infrared spectrum part of which is visible to animals such as deer.
Gray is without doubt the most versatile and forgiving colour.
As for who is the fool, in my book it’s the guy sat behind the latest ultramag with a 50x scope dressed from head to toe in invisiflage putting the cross hairs on some critter at half a mile and says he’s hunting.
Wear whatever works for you and what you are comfortable in.

in reply to: Killing the future of hunting. #41010Well done Sir, brag away:lol:
in reply to: Shipping a Bow ? #40146Yep, cardboard tube or rainwater down pipe, last year I was charged extra for sending a round tube I’m told round things cause problems on conveyors so it may pay to use something that doesn’t roll.
Another thing that helps is to pack neatly and label clearly, if it looks like you care then the parcel company may also.

in reply to: 2015 mast and fruit crop outlook #40140Same here for hazel nuts.
Walking home last evening with the dogs and noticed that there is a lot of fresh growth on the oaks, don’t know if this is significant of anything to come, maybe farmer Jim is right and we need to start hording.

Don’t abandon the fly rods just go trad if you can’t put it in your pockets you don’t need it.

Steve, lightening and gas, you and the family were so lucky hope the repairs go OK.
African killer bees, jeez.
I guess Jim will be along shortly with tales of antipodean wildlife, the stuff that Qantas doesn’t advertise.
