in reply to: Wood Arrow Build Along "Finished" #53465
Hey Dude,
Thanks for doing this. The only thing I have gone without is the spine tester. Guess I really ought to get one. I always end up with certain arrows that just are not the same as the others. Probably why.
Duncanin reply to: stupin with woodies #52564Cody,
Glad you had some fun with your new wood arrows. I hope to get out tomorow afternoon and do some stumping too.

in reply to: Does anybody SELL Paper USGS Topo Maps anymore? #52068I have not seen any map drawers like that since the River Runner’s Emporium closed down in the late 1980’s. I used to hang out there for hours going over those maps and buying the ones I needed. Just give me a good map and a good compass and if nothing else, I’ll take the good compass.
I was going to mention that link you posted. I use it in my line of work at times.Duncan
in reply to: Is some pickin' okay here? #52062Hey Dave,
I enjoy playing the recorder which has a similar tone to the native American flute. However, it causes my wife much trepidation, so I have to play it where she can’t hear it!
Duncanin reply to: HELP – STINGER! #52027I’m no expert on this either and don’t know your bow weight but you could try a lighter weight bow if it persists and a new glove or time away to rest does not solve the problem.
in reply to: Is some pickin' okay here? #52023I’ve been attempting to play guitar for the last 40 years and still can’t do it! But I admire those who can so keep on pickin’ and I’ll keep on grinnin’:D
in reply to: Keepin' It Trad… #52017So what happens if these types of topics appear in the other forums? Will they simply be deleted?
I will say that Topics Outside Trad Bow was not the first place I go to on the forum but I do think it has its place. Other sites include such a place for folks to discuss or ask non- Trad Bow questions/topics.
Maybe there was some out of hand discussion that I missed that made you guys decide to nix it. I’m kind of surprised to see this happen.Duncan
in reply to: Woodie Weights #51474What Hiram said except I use bees wax. Rub some on and buff briskly with a cotton jersey rag. Makes ’em slick as a baby’s derriere. Also do this with your hunting shafts for best penetration.
OK I see that I contributed to the hi jacking of the woodie weight thread. My bad.
in reply to: A-lot of SNOW!!! #51463Chris
I figured you guys were probably getting it from the weather reports. The last two storms tracked to far north to impact us. We are getting some now though. The forecast is 2-4 inches here but it started earlier than they said. Would not surprise me to get twice that. Glad you guys are doing OK.
Duncanin reply to: My Apologies! #51445Steve,
All I can say is I’m feelin’ in my heart what only Bert can put to words!!:D Relieved that you’re stickin’ with us. BTW No need for apologies!

in reply to: Some People Should NOT Be Bowhunters! #50404STEVE!!! say it ain’t so bro! You can’t just quit ’cause somebody disagreed with you. OK go cool down some then come on back. We need your expertise and experience.
For the record I don’t subscribe to Nugent’s brand of sportsmanship, if you can call it that.

in reply to: Selfmade bow quivers? #49223Cool tool work on that one.
in reply to: Bow Tuning #49217Thanks Hiram,
After shooting it some on Sunday with your suggested raised shelf (about 1/8″ under the rug) and tinkering with the knock point I am beginning to think arrow spine may be too heavy. Will try some lighter spined arrows this weekend. So far the only arrow I have shot from it that did not kick up was a hardwood arrow with banana fletch and a heavy game nabber tip. Does this mean my heavier spined arrows need a heavier field point? Or could the banana fletch be stabilizing the shaft quicker. (I normally would use a shield cut fletch with this bow)
Duncanin reply to: For those who love Footed Arrows #49194Desertdude,
Very nice collector arrow. Never seen one swirled like that and the footed self nock is cool too. Thanks for sharing.

I made a dowling jig out of a plainer using only a drill press. It works awsome for parallel shafting.
ch
Clay,
I’d like to see your doweling jig if possible.
Thanks,
