in reply to: refinish a glass bow #10930
before swithing to an epoxy finish I would sometimes tru oil bows. I would sand them down to 220 and then put on a glover and just rub down the whole bow with it. after about the fifth coat it would be really shinny
in reply to: Thunderchild! #10928Sweet looking bow Bud. Jim builds some pretty bows.
in reply to: Bamboo Flooring for backing bows? #47459I wouldn’t back a bow with boo flooring or ipe. If I was building a backed bow then it needs to be reg bamboo sinew cloth paper or some other sort of material.
Ipe can be used on the belly and it’s a great choice too
in reply to: Bamboo supplier wanted #43577Pine hollow longbows. I get mine from there for my BBB bows. for all my other boo i get from four winds bamboo in colorado. I use the vertical unfinished flooring.
Hope this helps

in reply to: recurve bows #43572When you say “best” what do you mean? performance? Looks?
Performance wise to me probably Sid @ Border bows builds the best performing recurve. Kirk @ bigfoot bows has a high performance recurve. Those are just two that come to mind.
As far as looks well the beauty is within the beholder. eveyone has opinion on the best but those are my two top performers.
in reply to: String silencer placement #39940Chuck over @ two tracks has a god thing going. I havent used them but have heard(or not heard) them in action. and from what all i have read they will outlast several strings.

sorry should be heterodyning
in reply to: String silencer placement #37784I understand the concept of heterodining and the off placement of silencers and it does work and works really well with all my builds that I send out. I set all mine up this same way 1/3&1/4 and with a SBD string.
David I’d like to see a pic of these wood silencers if ya don’t mind.
in reply to: new elkheart #36686Very sharp looking bow. Agreed you need some blood on her.
