Everyone goes thru the bottom of the wave at some point. I had a confidence meltdown myself just last week ( complete with an emotionally charged Campfire Forum post :D) and I’ve been shooting traditional for 10 years, five with the same bow same arrows!!:? So keep doing it! And I hope you find “The” bow for you!!

Proper placement and “BIG ENOUGH” doesn’t equal the tenancity of wild things!
So true!! I will paste this quote into my signature! Is it OK, Doc?:D
in reply to: My First Traditional Kill #19781Congrats! 😀
in reply to: My Trad Bowhunting season is (not) over! #17900Thank you everyone for the great, much needed advice! I guess I had a moment of weakness. Sorry about the bitchin’ and moanin’! I wisely opted to give the device away to another leftie! I don’t know why I even entertained the idea of using it in the first place, and I don’t even want it in storage anymore! I did take to the woods today and sat at the same place, with the shrew! with my regular Eskimo and ACE-tipped arrows, this time! I saw 5 deer, but didn’t have a shot. I didn’t want one anyway today! I did find my arrow from yesterday. It was a good moment! 😀
I’m done until next week. I’m taking the shrew to the city with me and shoot in my apartment! I will come back upstate next week after Sunday’s Marathon, and I will spend a couple days in the woods with the shrew and a Judo before I go hunting again!
Once again, Thank you, brothers!

So I’m done with the Shrew for this year… I think… I went and got my untouched 10 year old compound out of my storage place upstate, and after 5 minutes, I had groups of 3 arrows within 1/2 inch from each other at 15, 20, and 25 yards. I want to keep hunting, but I don’t want to wound another deer.
France is not different I know ball trap champions who are true strainers when hunting
I think a good bowhunter must shoot game as he shoot 3D target without emotion, without trembling, without his heart accelerates
And this, is not the case for all
if you have the opportunity get unarmed on a TS in a place where bears are, look at them moving eating a few meters from you
When you remain the like you’re in front of your TV you can hunt with a bow with every chance of success
If not look at small game for a time 😕
Salut tu nas pas bien compris mon histoire. Je suis uniquement chasseur. Zéro tireur sur cible. J’explique que je n’ai pas pratiqué “cette année” comme il fallait.
A+
in reply to: My Trad Bowhunting season is (not) over! #17058thank you for this words of wisdom, guys. Yeah my post is a little bitchy, and I just have to deal with what I’ve done. I’m just angry at myself when hurting anyone, and especially animals! I will think about what you said and figure it out! 🙁
Mike, to me the hunt means hunting, and if shooting, killing. Not flinging arrows to smithereens, emptying the freakin’ quiver!! There are many steps to an instinctive, traditional shooting sequence. All of them have to be automatic, flowing, and in sync in order to make a good shot. I guess I’m not able to do that at this time in 2014. I will visit you guys for sure! 😀

Some folks have written here and elsewhere they have some challenges with the Griz Stick. I’ve tested them in years past thru many evolutions and found them excellent. Everyone is different!
I have friends who run a hog hunting operation, and when they loose one, they watch for buzzards and often find it. The gal worked necropsy on hogs for the University in Dallas, so she wades in and cuts em up to find what went wrong… found many 3 blades with the points rolled over against bone
Other people swear by them and wars have been fought over less inflammatory statements. Everyone is different!
I’m sure you’ll find many people who will swear BY the 3 blade. You’re shooting enough draw weight to punch the extra blade thru most stuff. Dr. Ashby’s studies are published here in total,I and while I’ve never heard the Doc tell anyone what to do, he lets the “evidence” of well-done testing speak for itself. Everyone is different!
As most who’ve seen these wars on various topics have come to offer, “shoot what you have confidence in”. You will find people who have had great luck with no matter what you shoot. High FOC, LOW Foc, 2 blade, 3 blade. Polished edge, furry edge heads, Cedar, alum, carbon. Footed, unfooted. 6-strand skinny string, B50. Everyone is different!
Make sure your set up flies well and is properly tuned and PICK A SPOT. WHERE you hit em usually trumps WITH WHAT you hit em!
And there you have it! The truth!! The only thing I would say to this very in-depth post is that I hope it’s just your first trad broadhead and not your first trad bow. If it were, I’d say that you might be a bit over bowed unless you’re the kind of guy who can do unlimited reps of chin ups! 😀
in reply to: Dream Hunts #62290I’m always dreaming of hunting the places I know best: My home, the NY Hudson Valley, and The Colorado San Juan National Forest! But, High country mule deer anywhere and Oregon Elk hunting is often on my mind!
in reply to: New Buffalo Bow #60007What are the limb cores made of?
in reply to: 2014 Hunting #59459I missed a big alpha doe yesterday morning, from the tree stand I just put up a few days ago. It was very windy and all of a sudden, her, two fawns and another younger doe were under my tree, but behind. They milled around for a few minutes,, smelling and looking. Then the big one walked away. When she was about 7 yards behind the tree base, I got ready. The thing is, I was facing the tree. That makes for an awkward, and steep shot. I did bend at the waist as much as I could, but I was worried my limbs would hit the tree stand or branches. I was concentrating on that instead of concentrating on a spot low behind her shoulder, and of course the arrow flew right over her back! I actually should have aimed for the leaves under her chest!!
Anyway, better that than nightmare wounding shot! It was fun. I saw a lot of deer coming up the hill both mornings, most of them about 100 yards away, walking directly in front of my ground blind!!:D:D:D
Back at work today, and going to Cleveland for 4 shows Friday and Saturday, going to a friend’s wedding Sunday, and the rest of October is mine! Strictly Bowhunting and training for the Oct 26th Marine Corps Marathon!!!
