Nice work Monk, hope they bring you luck with the bunnies 😀
in reply to: Our X-gun friends and bowhunting's public image #23033As others have said, this isn’t an x-gun issue, it’s a symptom of broader social and societal problems that I’m not even going to try to go into. Last week our local paper ran an article on a number of decapitated dogs left dumped in a field. What motivates people to decapitate domestic pets? Zero degrees of empathy is a scary situation.
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #20794You pretty much summed it up Ralph. It’s not a looker but it works and if you lose it so what, just get another one – it ain’t no heirloom 😉
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #20782I already posted my little Opinel knife and figured my hunting knife was a bit boring but hey it’s a good functional knife so it should get some glory! A Swedish Frost Mora army issue, cheap as chips but does exactly what it says on the tin!

Yup, just take a look at a boxer’s eyebrows around the tenth round and see how effective vaseline is at stopping bleeding!
in reply to: '59 Bear Kodiak replica #16388I agree, it’s a gorgeous bow and a beautiful throw-back. I love the Grayling Green SK as well. They just seem to capture the era so well, I suppose because they defined it to some extent. But I think I’ll be putting my hard earned scratch into a custom bow when I do “step up”.

Etter, do you have a luggage or fishing scales? You know the type with the spring loaded gauge. As long as it reads over 60lb you can use it to get a pretty good estimate of draw weight at your draw length without having to have a bow scale. Just a thought if you have one lying around. I’ve done this and it really helped when getting proper spined arrows. Good luck!
in reply to: What's in a Name? #15310I’m from Wexford, which comes from the viking name Weis Fjord, Old Danish for sandy harbour. Hence, Wexbow – not much imagination I know!
Goraidh, I was trying to figure out your username as it has a Gaelic spelling but wasn’t a word I knew. Makes sense now, old Scots Gaelic I’d say, I wouldn’t think it’s Norse.
in reply to: Giving It Up #13029Great photo Ben, the quintessential prairie scene 😀

Hey Jody, was the old buck bedded early after one too many whiskeys the night before??? 😛
Injuries or not if you have 80% possession in a rugby match and don’t win there’s something seriously wrong! It was infuriating to watch. Poor decisions, lack of leadership, rubbish set pieces, and our nations most experienced out-half playing as if he’s had a lobotomy 🙁 The slam is all yours at this stage, but for a pesky team in red that seem to be building…
