in reply to: The Fletchings Cut Me!!! #10228Let me start by saying I am no tuning guru (I don’t even play one on tv). All kidding aside, yes I have had this happen and in my case my nocking point was too low.
I would check that and your brace height and go from there.
You might even get by with changing the orientation of your nock to alieviate some of the problem.
I am sure that there will be someone with more knowledge than myself that will chime in soon, I will look forward to hearing other opinions on this matter.

in reply to: how many arrows for hunting? #63692Three or four broadheads and one judo. Might have to rethink the ammount of small game heads, there seems to be more opportunity to use them.

I love this statement. I too have never regretted a shot not taken.

Glad you recovered your bow.
in reply to: A whole new take on ethics #23608I loved the Dr. Seuss analogy. Not sure how to even feel about using the word “ethics” in this article.
I believe I feel a lymric comming on that is not suitable for this site.
in reply to: Coues kill — arrow set-up #59353King I am always impressed with that arrow setup. If at all possible could you show a close up of the external footing? I assume that you are shooting off the shelf, does that footing interfere with the process durring the draw cycle? Just curious on how you delt with the transition from carbon to aluminum.

in reply to: World's worst deer-trailing dog #31042I think having that dog on the woods would be considered baiting.
in reply to: A change of heart #31035ReadyHawk, I will always have the utmost respect for a man who stands by his convictions.
My most memorable hunts more often than not have resulted in unfilled tags. The hunt goes on with or without us all, it will be there if or when you are ready.
in reply to: Motivation #29844The more I reflected on this question the harder it became. I wish I could say that we survive on the meat but if that was the case I would use the easiest means for obtaining said meat, and that would be a rifle (or cruise missle which are hard to come by).
If it was just experiencing nature I could do that at anytime carrying nothing more than a camera and a bottle of water.
I hunt to be a participant in life not just an observer. To accept that I am a predator and experience the wild as a part of it not as a bystander.
I choose traditional equipment for its simplistic grace, and I am ill equiped with minimal fangs and nonexsitant claws to do the job.
I hunt, not because its what i do, but rather who I am.
in reply to: "Blood trailing" light? #28562I too have the red filter on a headlamp, cant say wether or not it helps blood trailing but it does seem to allow your eyes to adjust faster to the dark when switching it off as opposed to the whiter light.
Br549 while I haven’t marketed them I do own several pairs of bear drawers that durring extreme encounters will automatically make the wearer smell very unappetizing.
in reply to: The anser to all our problems! #28552Sorry but I had to add to this particular thread. I looked over my sons shoulder as he was looking through the latest Cabelas catalog, And happened to glance at the “NEW FIREFLY CAMO ELECTRONIC WIND DETECTOR”. For only 49.99 you can get 512 readings per second down to 1″ per second, runs on AAA batteries. (not included)
What is the world coming to that we need an electronic device that will do the same thing that the dust under your feet, the feather in your hat, or the string dangling from a top limb can accomplish?
The only up side to this is that my son and I now try to out do each other to find the most ridiculous item sold to hunters. He is now winning after seeing the wind detector first.in reply to: How to ruin a hot spot #27802What? no spiral staircase? Too bad that wasnt built a little farther south I am pretty sure that this county would require a permit for any structure that size.lol
