in reply to: Recuve length #17621Here is some information from Schafer Silvertip on ordering a recurve and what Dave Windauer recomends for your bow length to your draw length.

I don’t own a Schafer Silvertip, but have thought about one, and Dave Windauer is a master bower.

in reply to: What's your favorite bowhunting song? #15172I don’t have the music to this yet, but here you go written by me.
Parody of Garth Brooks’ song “Rodeo”
“Recurve Bow” by Jon Erdmann
His eyes are cold and restless
September 4th is almost here
And she’d give half of Montana
Just to chase away the bear, elk and deer.Well she knows his love’s in the woods
And she knows he’s gonna go
Well, it ain’t no woman, flesh and blood
It’s that danged old recurve bow.Well its trails of blood
It’s tracks in mud
It’s finding a tree in the dark
It’s his knees when they buckle
Or the pounding of his knuckles
When his shot misses the mark.
It’s aerial maps,
It’s arrow wraps,
The bear fur rest, you know
It’s the simple things
And the arrow when it sings,
And they call the thing a recurve bow.She does her best to hold him
When his thoughts turn to fall
But his need for the outdoors controls him
And her backs against the wall.
And its “So long, girl, I’ll see you”
When its time for him to go.
You know the woman wants her husband
Like he wants his recurve bow.Well its trails of blood
It’s tracks in mud
It’s finding a tree in the dark
It’s his knees when they buckle
Or the pounding of his knuckles
When his shot misses the mark.
It’s aerial maps,
It’s arrow wraps,
The bear fur rest, you know
It’s the simple things
And the arrow when it sings,
And they call the thing a recurve bow. It’ll drive a hunter crazy.
It’ll drive the man insane.
And he’ll sell off everything he owns
Just to pay to play the game
And a broken home and some mounts at home
Is all he’ll have to show
For the years he spent chasing
That wildlife with his recurve bow.Well its trails of blood
It’s tracks in mud
It’s finding a tree in the dark
It’s his knees when they buckle
Or the pounding of his knuckles
When his shot misses the mark.
It’s aerial maps,
It’s arrow wraps,
The bear fur rest, you know
It’s the simple things
And the arrow when it sings,
And they call the thing a recurve bow.© copyright 2010 Jon Erdmann Expressed All Rights Reserved

I recently saw a new device out, that inserts just under the hide. Then gets attached to an air hose seperating the hide from the carcuss, making skinning a snap.
This guy in the video, probably washed the meat off prior to videoing this demonstration.
Just a guess.

in reply to: Should Traditional bowhunting be more mainstream? #10824Strait-Aero wrote: Traditional archery is mainstream aawith those of us who already live the life. There will be many more that come onboard and find that it is the only way to enjoy bowhunting to the fullest. It isn’t something that is easily learned, but once we find it becomes a part of us.:)
X2 AMEN!
in reply to: Waterproofing feathers?? #10150I hunted in the rain, no water proofing, and not trouble with arrow flight.
