Form is the most important thing to good shooting. You must come to the same anchor point EVERYTIME. Many anchor with their first on second fingertip in the corner of their mouth, doesn’t matter which finger as long as you do it everytime. Good form is more important than bow poundage.

        1. What kind of shape are you in. since you stated 2013, then good get in the best shape of your life, if you are a flatlander, then twice the best shape of your life. 2. Are you a backpacker/camper. if not start now, think bows are expensive ha, good outdoor gear can be outasight, and anything for sleeping or shelter you find at Wallyworld is probably gonna be junk. So get a good sleep system and start in the back yard (allows you to bail if the weather turns bad or your equipment doesn’t work out.Decide what you are gonna eat, many good things to eat that only require hot water, learn how to bear bag your grub. 3. Learn how to shoot out to 30 yards, putting the first shot in the bulleye standing kneeling, sitting, from behind cover. The bow you have now is OK if you can shoot like I stated. 4. Learn first aid, broadheade and your knife should be shaving sharp. 5. Have fun, the first time you hear a elk bugle you will know what fun is.

Arrows depend on their intended purpose, for targets and plinking the ones you have are fine. For hunting depends on what fly good with broadheads. I myself never bought into that heavy agenda as the largest animal I hunt are whitetails. Mr, J, Howard shot some big critters and Mr. Welch shoots big critters with fairly light arrows, I shoot a 45# bow with 380 arrows.

Why not try a flatbow like the the Brown Recluse Seminole Chief. has a riser similar to a recurve with limbs similar to a longbow. Probably “faster” than a Shrew. But they do bite!

Call Bob Burton at Whispering Wind arrows. He can fill you in on all of the details on the footed arrows he makes. Another source is Ted Fry at Raptor archery.

I have an Apache blind that I like. Best reference is that Too Short listed it in his “screaming Eagle” catalog.

Fairly light around 400, I like Mr Howard’s ideas about arrows and arrow weights. I will as always carry my father’s Camillus knife. I have carried for over 40 years both hunting and fishing and thru two wars.

A dacron (B50) string, measure the string then order one from an online supplier. Be sure to use a bow stringer.

Another good way to learn to shoot at longer distances is to use a sight. This sight can be as simple as a kitchen match taped to the riser. It allows one to work on their form. Mr Jack Howard like in “Gamemaster Jet” used a Merrill sight as it allowed him to have better form.

I like my Howard Hill back quiver, not too sure about it hanging up but if you have this problem you are probably moving too fast and not looking where you are walking. I also carry very little gear, in a fanny pack or shoulder bag. Just my two cents.

IMHO Killing predators is sorta like killing snakes. I don’t except when they are in my yard and only the poisonous ones. Out in the woods I am on their property. Dave wasn’t it Cactus Ed when asked about yotes killing and eating sheep he replied ” Yes but not enough sheep…”
