      Greetings from S.E. Arizona.

      So …………….. a couple of things;

      First of all ‘what’s the critter going to be used for?’ The reason I ask is that the bow set-up might be different depending on intended use.  2216’s @ 50 lbs w/extra weight up front might be better for whitetails out of treestands than pronghorns on the grasslands. Same with target shooting; 3D w/30 yard max or Field Rounds out to 80 yards. ????

      Ok …………… First and foremost; If you cant the bow (and I do, too) you MUST also cant the drawing hand the same angle. Otherwise, the string gets torqued into an ‘S’ shape and bad things happen to arrow flight,  eventually causing madness.

      Next ……….. Nocking point. Seems a wee bit high, but I don’t shoot 3 under. I would suggest going to 0 height, shooting groups of about thre and raising it ever so slightly each adjustment.  AND !!! Rather than trying to observe the arrow flight yourself, have a spotter do it and concentrate on shooting form.  Collapsing and dropping the bow-arm to see what your arrows is doing just ain’t gonna work !!!!

      Lastly ………. Baby Powder is your friend. I don’t think that a bow is completely tuned until the riser / rest area has been powdered a few times to reveal any contact with shaft or fletch.

      Good luck and keep us posted !!!

          Been hitting Roosevelt Reservoir hoping to catch the beginning of the Carp Rut.  They’re just starting to move into the shallows in the afternoons.  Soon ……………..

          I think that shooting at moving carp that are underwater w/refraction while standing up in a moving canoe is the ultimate in ‘Instinctive’,

            Question;

            Does the Cactus Juice need to be applied with the vacuum gizmo or can it just be used as a dip or a brush on ???                            I’m thinking uses for Cholla Cactus skeletons.

            Thanx …………………. and keep ’em coming !!!!

              Yeah, that was probably me. Sad that that trick seems to be lost to us.

                  Methinks that the next time I buy a bow I won’t snivel quite so much about the $$$.

                  Always thought that if I ever won the lotto, I would have matching knife handle, pistol grips and bow riser made. Something with black wood and crushed turquoise.

                  Never to old to dream.

                      Perfect day today;  Mid 70s with a light breeze & sunny skies.

                      My shooting today; Not so much. I try to shoot an American Round, 9/7/5  scoring, once a month just because.  My goal is to shoot a 675 with my hunting bow. Didn’t have my mind right and my final score showed it.  Maybe next month.

                          Totally cool on the bow build. I’ve wanted to but am still trying to build the perfect arrow. …….. and a few other things.

                            Speaking of bees ………………………….

                            I’ve got  five gallons of Mead working in the back room.  Should be ready to enjoy around the campfire by this fall.

                              I have an 80 gal. aquarium and quite a bit of cactus landscaping or wildlife habitat depending if you listen to me or my wife.  Been known to do a bit of rod & reel fishing but more than likely bowfishing out of my canoe.

                              And predator calling ………………. love to squeeze the rabbit.

                                High winds over this way. Hate it when my arrows fly sideways

                                Suggested reading; Traditional Bowhunter / Feb.-Mar. 2011 ‘The Advantage of Long Distance Practice’  G. Fred Asbell.  I don’t always agree with everything Asbell writes but he really scored spot on with this article.
