      What if ………………………..

      You went to Wally World and picked up a roll of the shock absorbing wrap that they put on tennis rackets and wrapped your grip with it ???

      And ………………… While you’re there grab a package of ‘choke rings’ that they use on bats. I put a set on my recurve right at the fade-outs and they seem to dampen the vibrations a bit.

      You might also try a heavier string and heavier arrow and see what happens.

          Ok ………… I’ll assume that a tin-foil hat isn’t the solution.

          Interesting; Since the heavier Bear doesn’t cause a problem we can probably rule out excessive weight.

          So …………… One thing that I can think of is ‘possibly’ the grip is slightly different  on the self bow causing you to tense different muscles, tightening up the back of the neck, causing the head-ache.

          Another thought is that a self bow might have a bit more hand shock causing the brain housing group to rattle.

          One last thought; (and I’m way over my daily limit) I firmly believe that there is a ‘panache’ factor in the bows we shoot. This goes beyond the spec sheet with feet per second and all of that. Sometimes a bow just feels ‘right’ and sometimes it doesn’t.  The ones that don’t go back on the rack to be tried again later.  If they still don’t bond, they find a new owner.  I once sold a name brand bow to a guy in the club and the ungrateful clod actually tried to outshoot me with it.  He loved that bow that didn’t do much for me.

          A wise man once said “Life’s too short to dance with a cranky bow”  (or something like that)

            Actually, that idea came from a long forgotten post or conversation with a string maker.  There was a formula, also forgotten, that involved the ring wax, rosin and perhaps something else.  We made a batch and kept it at the archery range for all to use. It lasted a long long time even with club use.

              I don’t know much about boolit lube but I’ve been known to use toilet bowl wax ring seal (new) for bowstring wax.

                Totally cool !!!!!

                There’s something about eagles. They just have ‘presence’ for want of a better description.

                  To each their own ……………. For me Vortex 6.5 x 32s work for the hunting that I do and the shoots that I go to.  Something to be said for hand held steady and good field of view with my glasses on.

                  Gotta wonder though when somebody’s first post contains a link.  Be that as it may, Welcome to the board. What kind of stick do you shoot ????

                      Couple of questions;

                      What length are you looking for ???

                      Do they need to be the xx78s ???

                          The best suggestion that I can make would be to enter his name in the ‘search’ on eBay now & then.

                          Good luck.

                            Thank you for the kind words. However, there’s actually method to my madness with the aiming spot on a white plate;

                            Instead of thinking of the white plate w/spot as a flat target, think on it as a white ball w/aiming spot. Now imagine the ‘ball’ in a broadside deer’s chest.  Next, put one of the deer hunting videos on the tube and study the deer’s movements noting the position of the ‘ball’ and how the aiming spot moves in relation to the deer’s position.  With me so far ??? ….. Good!!.  Once you get comfortable ‘seeing’ the white ball w/aiming spot you can move on to the next hat trick which is the old ‘Red Light / Green Light game.  Deer facing you ?? See the spot on the ball as hot pink.  As the deer turns to the broadside, the spot turns to bright green and stays bright green as the deer quarters away. From shooting the Safford Long Round you have a pretty good idea what your max ‘in the plate distance’ is so a deer approaching would have the same ‘to far / red light, close enough / green light effect.  It doesn’t take too long and this visualization becomes second nature.  Next is shooting a 3D round aiming for your own green spot and keeping them in the ball.  When it comes time to actually shoot at a critter you’ll be on familiar ground and this adds confidence.

                            At the very least, you’ll never watch a Jurassic Park movie the same way again.

                                Through a comedy of errors & mishaps, I never made it. one of the rare times I’ve said I’ll be somewhere and didn’t show.  Hate it when that happens.

                                Let me know when you’ll be over this way and we’ll figure something out.

                                  Speaking of Stump Shooting …………………………….

                                  Usery Park in Mesa is holding a paper stump shoot this Sunday. If you’re of a mind to, come by and fling a few. I’ll be the handsome bearded old guy wearing a light colored cowboy hat.
