in reply to: twisting strings #115104yippee I did it and it came out well on a Bear black bear 8 1/2 brace then I did a bear polar and it’s a 65″ bow recurve and I could not string it . Then I did a Damon Howatt diablo and had a heck of a time stringing that but got it with a 8″ brace . I am a longbow man so am I just not used to stringing curves ? I am using a Selway stringer and using a 81/2 brace on the curves as a starting point maybe thats too much ? I will search on the computer to see what the brace hgts should be ?
in reply to: twisting strings #113282I twist my bundles then I decide which is top and bottom then I put the bigger loop on a nail and twist the bottom a bunch of twist and the string unravels . This has happened before but always figure it out . Maybe I need to put the loops in my hands and twist opposite the both ends. I will be back at it on the morrow after work. Ive tied a dozen strings but fighting with this one

in reply to: Experience #16164was out elk hunting and had a elk coming in the wind was right and a light rain coming down . He had no idea I was there and all of a sudden he blows out . I was p off at my self and knew my set up was perfect and then I caught movement below me and I saw a cat. Long story short he came up to 15yds from me and stopped I had him for 10 minutes . I drew back on him and held for as long as I could then lowered my bow walked towards him talking loud saying your dead , I drew again still nothing and after about 3 seconds he finally split . It was kind of a long way back to the truck in the dark. A good time was had by all
in reply to: michigan longbow association #41486I called him on Sunday . Thanks
selbow are you flying in or driving and where to ?? I believe theres a lot to do or see but Montana is a big place ? Hunting, fishing ,mountain biking ,hiking ,indian battle fields ,mushroom picking still some nice towns left with some historical buildings. Like DT said there are lots of bowyers and if you contact them you can visit and shoot their bows. I like driving the back roads and staying off the interstate myself a map and time is all you need .Good luck

in reply to: Toelke whip #51914it’s a great bow and the bowyer is a hell of a nice guy. a few years back i was shooting in the Bitterroot with the bitter bowman and had the opportunity to not only shoot one but a free lesson from the bowyer big fun great bow. The only reason I have not bought one is that I have a lot of bows – looking at 6 right now . Good luck great bow
