i used some colored makers and put on a design and it actually came out pretty nice . going to work on a black bow now. Ed was the bowyer of owl bows and he put some nice designs on his bows . Im stealing some of his designs hope he wouldn’t mind .
in reply to: javelina hunting arizona #158948sorry been back about a month have not been on the site in a while. Hunting in Patagonia was fun but could not find a Javie the whole month of Jan while hunting but my wife would see them all the time in town?? I saw a lot of nice bucks but no deer tag . Once the season ended I would see them every where . I had a lot better luck in the past hunting north of Tucson and Phoenix. Oh well still a great time and then all of Feb and March I saw javies every where ? Thats the way it goes always next year .
in reply to: javelina hunting arizona #156812I let you know how it goes . Plan on doing a lot of hiking glassing and enjoying some sunny weather . Thanks to all
in reply to: herters perfection recurve #151824sounds like a plan . Very nice looking bow . Trying to clean all the bows up I have collected over the years and have them all in shooting shape .
in reply to: indian bows #149965thanks I do have the catalogs . Im going to try Steves idea may try to use velcro but I think leather is easier to cut ? I will also look into Wilderness . I have a little 48″ bow and that thing shoots like crazy .
in reply to: beman carbon arrows #147847i think it said 70 95 ? a friend of mine shoots a 45 pound curve with a 29 ? inch draw and we found this arrow and trying to figure what shoots?? this arrow shoots great but funny numbers on the side ?? tried a test kit with no joy
in reply to: centaur bows #132808the bow on the top with the gold tips . I was shooting the 35 55 and they seem under spined so I jump to 75 95 because I had one laying around and it flew great . I made 1 up and it seems a little funny but still working on it . My 35 55 seem ok I cut them to 27 bop and put a 250 grn pt up front and they seem to fly good.
in reply to: centaur bows #132804raymond – what arrows and spine are you shooting ??
in reply to: centaur bows #132656thank you those bows are beauties . I ordered a triple carbon with bacote and a chimeron (spelling ) with cocobolo and juniper with slight yellow accents on the tips and riser . I spent about 5 hrs with Jim shooting , getting sized up and deciding what I wanted . Super nice guy and helpful. Again thank you . Now the wait
in reply to: centaur bows #132610the snake skin is cool. Is the bow all dark with the skin on it?? I think I see photos of it on his web site ?? Nice looking bow
in reply to: First Longbow #125990i did the same thing. I ordered my first longbow and the bowyer said no it was too much , ordered the bow anyway shot it loved it had problems with it ran into the guy 10yrs later told him the problems asked him to cut it down he laughed and told me i told you so . He cut it down to 52# and never had problems again. I had elbow issues and shooting issues and they all ended . Long story short all my bows are 50# . I hunt elk and deer mostly. I think you already answered your own question ,you are over bowed . Good luck . My longbows seem to be way more forgiving than my curves . They are all reflex deflex and cut to center.
in reply to: Weight Tubes #122523I was using tubes and having a heck of a time getting good flight . I then starting using heavy points and weight inserts , all my weight is up front and I am using gold tip shafts . Finish weight for elk is 700grn out of a 53# selway longbow. I have a box of different tubes and to be honest I just could not figure out how to really use them . I know I am not really answering your question but I just could not get the arrow I was looking for so gave the tubes up . Good luck
