Just looked that up its crazy guys. The guys shootin a 70# Mathews switchback with some aluminium arrows he shoots this dead hog and it only penetrates about an inch behind his broadhead…it looked like a 3 blade replaceable head to me…and believe it or not one of the blades was broken off uhhh….imagine that. Just proves again a heavy bow shooting light arrows won’t do to much to a big animal

Ive picked up several recurves on ebay most of which has had twisted limbs. Whats worked for me is just to turn my ma’s hairdryer up to 11 and let ‘er rip. I don’t know how good that is for the limbs but I usually succeed in getting most if not all of the limb twist out.

I would check out some old surplus stores. I got some real nice german pants from WWII not really sure how they got here though…also penleton makes great stuff.

I use a kwickie quiver that i threw and old bowstring on and sling it over my back. Although I love the thought of a bow quiver I cant shoot with one at all.

I unstring my bow every time im done shooting you dont have to unstring your bow but its not like its difficult so might as well.

I am shooting beman mfx with the wood grain finish and after awhile all of them started loosing the finish on the section where they penatrate the target. however I am shooting into a layered carpet target which is just hard on arrows in general. Other than that I love the shafting

in reply to: Woody Weights #19441

Thankyou for the advice guys. but what I dont understand is doesnt a 200gr broadhead give me the same chance for breakage as say a 125gr point and a 75gr WW (=200gr)? Just curious. I understand you dont want your arrows too complex though.

Oh and to Mr. Peterson I read on another post that your wood arrors were 700gr with 15% FOC. Would you mind sharing your set up with me and how you achived that with wood? Im guessing its probly not cedar…

That seems weird to me to degrade wild free creatures like that. Its like killing them for the good of the other critters. And that just sounds a bit wrong to me.

If your arrow nock goes left out of the bow that means the arrows are spined to weak. you can shorten your arrow, if possible, that will stiffin them up, or you can build up the side wall of your arrow shelf.

I would suggest you take the fletchings off one of the MFX shafts and see how they shoot. If nock goes left theyre too weak if it goes right its to stiff, supposing you are a right handed shooter…
