in reply to: Happy BD Alex! #42427
Great picture. Great guy. Great musician. Happy birthday again, Alex. 39 looks good on you. 😀
in reply to: question for a book #33599This is fine here, and if anyone wants to participate you are welcome to. Please do not promote your book in this forum when it is done. Commercial posts are limited to our paying advertisers.
Thanks.
in reply to: Refinish Martin Hunter? #32462Hey Bob, nice to see you here. 😀 You might want to check out Prairie Traditions by Joe Lasch. I believe he does refinishing and bow repair. There may be others too.
We published a Feature Article called Tuning 101 which has some helpful information about bareshaft tuning.
in reply to: Just my luck #21333I believe that falls under “Murphy’s Law of Tag Selection”. Enjoy the show. Heck, that’s half the fun anyway; just getting close to the action. You get to shoot them over and over in your mind. 😀
in reply to: classified ad ?? #15093M wrote: I posted an ad and now I am getting strange emails from a dying man who wants to leave me all his money because he doesn’t trust his children, but he doesn’t have the bow I want.
😯 This probably follows the old “too good to be true…” theory. I’m pretty sure that only happens in country music and movies on Lifetime.
Responding to a classified ad is open to anyone with access to the internet. Unfortunately that also includes spammers and whakos. 😉 Also be cautious of anyone wanting to buy a product for more than you are asking and wants you to send back the “extra” funds.
I would like to believe that your ads would get response from folks on this site, and I don’t want to be skeptical of every response, but please use caution. You can always ask me if we have any record of the buyer. The Help section of the Classifieds also has some cautions that would be good to go over. If you want to PM me the responder’s name I’ll tell you if we have him as a member.
in reply to: How to make simple bamboo arrows? #13569Welcome to the site.
You are in luck! Jay Massey did an article a long time ago about River Cane, which is very similar to bamboo. The magazine has been long sold out, but it is available to Premium Members of this site. Here is the link to the Oct/Nov 93 issue.
As far as vanes, they do work on traditional bows if you have an elevated rest. I know there have been posts about this topic so use the forum Search function (right below “Traditional Bowhunter® Magazine Forums”) and look for the word vanes to see the discussions. Maybe some of the members here can chime in as well with ideas.
in reply to: Share a Tip #13128Duncan, these are both excellent tips that I will probably steal from you for the newsletter. 😆 So simple, yet very important points. Thank you!
Come on guys. You might have a tip you think “everyone must know this” but they don’t. We all learn from each others. Keep ’em coming.
in reply to: classified ad ?? #13121My theory is that a lot of folks mainly hit the forums and don’t realize there are so many areas here to explore. Classified Ads, Feature stories that aren’t in the magazine, photo galleries, an event calendar, TradSpace, etc. All those areas are free but some require a free membership. Tell all your friends! 😀
in reply to: New Archer – Where to start? #11463Welcome to the site and to the family. This is really a fun group.
The Traditional Bowhunter’s Handbook is a great reference book about all things traditional. But I have to tell you, I’m kinda partial to the author 😆 he’s my husband. You can buy the book from us or from most of the traditional suppliers who advertise on this site and through the magazine.
We also have a forum called The Trailhead, where you can ask all the questions you like and lots of folks will be happy to help you.
in reply to: anatomy and archery… #10449Thanks for the detailed descriptions. I think this will help all of us to visualize the form we should have. Great post! 😀
in reply to: Just a reminder … #63316Dr. Ed, do you still need input for your study via the report forms that can be downloaded? They are in the first thread in this forum, Field Data Report and Blood Trail Report.
in reply to: Rainy day issues… #62324Here is the tip. Under The Hood
He used mineral oil. I don’t know if that is the same as mineral spirits. And he discouraged the use of Vaseline.
in reply to: ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THIS BOW? #60482I too add my apologies. I answered in haste and thought you were someone else with a similar username. 😳 I sure didn’t mean to derail your question. I’d be happy to delete this and let you start again.
in reply to: ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THIS BOW? #56564Do you have a picture of the bow? If you need help posting it just email it to me at webmaster@tradbow.com.
