Nice shooting, fella.Did you get them on the wing? I have a hard time hitting them with a shotgun…..Way to go!
in reply to: 1ST TRAD KILL!!! #18719Congratulations on a fine trophy of a doe. You see, now they’re all trophies. You can’t beat the feeling.:D
in reply to: Should Traditional bowhunting be more mainstream? #10757Traditional archery is mainstream aawith those of us who already live the life. There will be many more that come onboard and find that it is the only way to enjoy bowhunting to the fullest. It isn’t something that is easily learned, but once we find it becomes a part of us.:)
in reply to: Halloween Buck #10748Quite a story there,”He Runs With Deer”! I’d heard of someone running after a deer before and getting a shot at them. That sory will be hard to top.Nice job, man!
in reply to: New issue out? #9594😀 Got minee a week ago and I’m trying not to read it all in one day. I know my subscription is up in June 2011 so I’m goingto make sure I renew in time so as not to miss an issue. They seem like they take a long time to get here, but such a short time to read:cry:
in reply to: New Member #59376Welcome Catfish! Glad to have you aboard. I’m sure you’ll find this site to your liking. Great bunch of guys here that have oodles to talk about and lots to share. Hope to see you around….:D
in reply to: Our general season opens tomorrow #55867I too will be heading out to my blind,Jon…Our archery season has been in since Sep. 25th and I haven’t had any action to speak of. My job has had me six days a week and haven’t been able to make as much time for hunting.:( But the rut is just around the corner and I’ll have to get out early on these mornings even though I work late the night before.
Good luck on the rest of your season and keep us posted. Waynein reply to: Yesterday's high country bear trip – no bears yet #53825thanks for sharing,Ray….Sounds like some pretty rough country to hunt. Keep at it and keep us posted.
in reply to: Took a buck last weekend #52732Glad you closed the deal so early in your season. Keep after those does…They can be a challenge. Good hunting,Tailfeather.:)
in reply to: A Miss and A Test of Resolve #52728Donate the compound to the club or whatever you were going to do with it! Quit having it to fall back on. Dedicate yourself to the traditional way fully and you’ll find yourself enjoying it more and working at honing your skills more. Everybody misses and the big ones are probably the hardest ones to take. But when it’s meant to be, it’ll happen. DON’T GIVE UP!
in reply to: New member saying hello to all. #51420Welcome,Matt! I’d go with the advice to sell your compound and loo for a good custom bow. You can look in the classifieds here or on Stickbow.com. Jump in, you won’t regret it. You’re in good company.:)
in reply to: Just Me and the Squirrels…. #51410Beautiful fall day here in Ohio. I’m getting ready to go out this afternoon and put in some time in my blind. Hope the deer are moving. On my way home from a dr’s appt., I had a doe run across the road just ten feet in front of my car. Whew!!! Guess maybe they are moving….Good luck to all you brothers and sisters out there.:D
in reply to: Hardwood Arrows #48198I agree with Patrick about the forgiving nature of wooden shafts. Even if they aren’t perfectly straight they fly well. But I believe there was concern over whether or not they could be maintained in a wet climate…I believe that wood does well if properly sealed. I’m sure that some of the guys from the Pacific northwest that use wooden shafts couldn’t give some input here. As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing like shooting wood. 😆 JMHO
in reply to: Extremely Hard Season So Far! #45901Sorry to hear about the bear, sir. That thick ol’ fur of theirs tends to soak up the blood. Sounds as though you gave it your best effort at trying to recover the critter,Nate. That’s all you can do, so don’t beat yourself up for too long. Get back in the hunt!
Wayne
