in reply to: How were your Coues' deer hunts,Mr. Petersen? #54631Wow! You’ve really outdone yourself,Dave…..nice buck! Sorry, to hear about your fall. I’ve had a few over the years myself. Glad nothing worse than some bruises.Congratulations,Mr.P!

in reply to: How were your Coues' deer hunts,Mr. Petersen? #53211Still in progress, evidently…
in reply to: Personal Philosophies #46659I make my own arrows and craft my flemish twist strings. I like doing this for myself and others, sometimes even getting them to learn the crafts. It puts more enjoyment into mine and their shooting and hunting. I admire those who can make “all” their equipment. It doesn’t really take much convincing once they see the beauty of wooden shafts and the amazingly simplistic method of making your own string. Just my humble opinion….or philosophy. Wayne
Bob, I always do my thin lines last with a very fine sable hair brush. It makes the broader bands look clean and you don’t have to worry about over running into the finer ones. Try it and I’m sure you’ll love the results. You’ve done a beautiful job on these. Great work!!

in reply to: Soft Fingers effect #42052Wouldn’t change anything if it’s working well, like Steve said. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…. Wayne
in reply to: shooting problems #41145I’ve had a similar problem before and started using an armguard to keep my string from hitting my sleeve. I wouldn’t want this happening when I’m taking a shot at game. Like Bruce said, you need to keep an eye on your brace heighth especially if you shoot B-50 like I do. Wayne
in reply to: White Christmas surprise #40816I like snow for the tracking of deer and other animals in my woods. Just a skiff of snow would make it more interesting… and then I could stalk about in my new snow camos.8)
in reply to: Arrows for 2012 #40802Jason, if you want a heavier arrow try Douglas Fir or White Ash. Lodgepole(Chundoo)are a good wood but not necessarily heavier unless you put a footing on them and increase your FOC.
in reply to: Arrows for 2012 #39592Great looking set of arrows,Steve McD! I also have some lodgepole pine shafts and intend to make up some more. I also have some ash that sure are gorgeous with the green stain I used on them. Guess it’s that time of year when we do our arrowssmithing,Steve.:) Wayne
in reply to: Merry Christmas from Carter #39581Merry Christmas and to you all,and especially Carter. May your New Year be a happy one and find you,Carter, getting all that you need.:)
Sincerely,
Wayne
P.S. That Traditional Bowhunter is great read, isn’t it?
in reply to: How Many Over 55 #38634I’ll be 63 in the spring and have no problem shooting my 61# and 58# bows. But, I currently shoot 52# out of my Keith Smith Elk River longbow. At 70″ it’s smooth and fast. Wayne
in reply to: White Christmas surprise #34821We haven’t had much snow here in Ohio where I live and my son got me a new set of snow camos for Christmas. No snow on the ground right now and I still have some whitetail hunting to do.
Hope you guys get some more precipitation the rest of the year and on into the New Year. Wayne
in reply to: Wisconsin Albinos #22168Funny,but I was thinking the same thing the other day…..It must date back to the native forefathers seeing them as big medicine.
