Back when I lived in Mercer County New Jersey, Some 25 years ago, I had such a place that turned into a luxury housing development. Fortunately, the developer left my old treestand at the end of a street, at the edge of a woodlot. It looks out of place but I stopped to look at it one day and some kids were climbing up it as a tree fort. I asked if they would let me climb up into “their’ fort and they said no. When I told them I built it and what it was for, they went home and got a toy bow and arrow set (with plunger tips on the end. They said one of their parents beefed it up. I stop by and see it when I visit relatives.

My setup is ~8gpi and the elk I have taken had complete pass thru’s. I didn’t have a problem with it but the elk were very concerned.

Good news on the tuning. I bare shaft tuned my arrows some 15 years ago and the fun factor goes way up when your arrows fly true and on target.

Do a search on the Schrade/Oldtimer Sharpfinger. THe shape of the blade is very conducive to fieldressing and skinning, all-in-one knife.

                      David,

I had the opportunity to talk with Dryad bows owner, who id the BHA supplier for our Helle knives. He gave me some valuable info on sharpening Helle knives. We will have to sit down and talk sometime. To much to write here.

No need to be sorry, the Necedah is a very good bow too.

I believe that the bow raffle will be for shoot attendees only. I also don’t believe that this bowyer has a website. The shoot is in an area that has plenty of camping available. There were times that the shoot was held during very hot weather, 90’s in town, 80’s at shoot. It’s all weather dependent. Mosquito’s are a real problem due to nearby waterholes, creeks and stream. Bug spray is a MUST. There have been times where it was like Alaska black fly swarms. Again, weather dependent. I believe the simultaneous launching of arrows is the “battle clout”. Simulating the old english archery attack. There are some new events planned such as the water jug shoot. 2, shooters at 2 water jugs hanging and balanced by a string. As you hit them, and the water pours out, the lighter one raises up. Objective is to have your opponents side touch ground first.

This shoot is a real kick. Look us up if you plan on going. We’ll shoot arrows as well as the breeze.

Yes, I tried it on a Gerber knife I have and it sharpened it right up. smooth sharp finish. I believe it’s best use is in the field for a knife that has a good edge but needs to be touched up while field dressing/skinning/boning. It isn’t coarse enough to sharpen a dinged up blade. Maybe the diamond one is more suitable for that, or a sharpening stone once the hunt is over. They sell these both on Amazon. I paid $2.80, that’s right $2.80 for mine with free usmail shipping. Now it looks like it’s about $8 for the ceramic, and $12 for the diamond. I haven’t tried it on the BHA life member Helle yet, I can’t dull that one….after 2 deer it’s still shaving hair. Maybe I really don’t need a sharpener.
