in reply to: Remnants of the Hunt By Chris Libby #37960
Hi, Van… that is great news! I was gripped by the story myself, realizing it is so much more than that. 8)
in reply to: Found a point and killed a hog…. #31455Congrats! Must be some good mojo in that point! I’d be carrying it in your possibles bag from now on! 8)
in reply to: Bohning Paints #31446BH.. nice cresting work!8)
in reply to: Dealing with Back Troubles. #10879Thank you, Duncan. Good to hear from you! 8)
in reply to: Dealing with Back Troubles. #8258Now Dave…. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I am constantly reminded on just how easy it is to be without what we normally consider basic mobility for granted. I prefer the exercise too, myself. I don’t like drugs and dependency would scare me. Besides.. valium and percocet cocktails don’t really get rid of the pain, they just dope you up a enough not to “give a flying ….”!!! And than de-toxing is terrible too.
Good luck, Dave! Feel better soon!8)
in reply to: Dealing with Back Troubles. #7984Thanks, Runamuck.. that’s how it all started with me. Working on a loading dock. But, that’s ancient history now.
in reply to: Immortal Words… #63475Great post, T D… 8)
And yes… ” If your mind goes astray, so will your arrows”.
Focus Grasshopper! 😀
in reply to: How do you find your arrows? #57789Steve Sr… Great to see you here again! I hope all is going well for you now.
I usually use some white fletch as well. But, if I cannot find an arrow after searching for 5 minutes, I just make new ones. Normally I try to hit what I’m shooting at though. 😆
in reply to: Dealing with Back Troubles. #53287Thanks, Nick! I know someone at work who was telling me the same thing. She goes to an exercise and physical therapist every week that specializes in people with back problems – worth looking in to. Thats for the advise,
All the Best,
Stevein reply to: A Little Old Skool #48381BH.. did you Dye? or Stain? those shafts.
in reply to: A Little Old Skool #48078Nice! Self Nocked and Broadhead. 8) What type of wood?
in reply to: Wind check feather #46302I can understand that Dave, Different animal. I hunt almost exclusively on the ground. But with Whitetails there is such a thing as too close.
in reply to: Wind check feather #45991I’ve used the hackle of Ruffed Grouse feathers, and they work well.
Hmmm.. and so the discussion (debate 😛 ) lives on. I feel somewhat responsible since I started a major thread on this topic. But, I do need to make a few thingss clear.
For me it is just a matter of upbringing, I was taught by my Dad to take only what I would eat, and never take more than you need ( regardless of creel or bag limit).
Yes I do feel a kinship to all animals as we are all connected. Just the naturalists in me.
I also would not hesitate to kill any animal that threatened me. Truth is, your experience with the Wolf in the field, I would not have eased out, I would have assumed something not right with the animal and shot it anyway. Yes.. Shooot, Shovel and Shut up!
Lastly, all predators need to be managed and I encourage and am happy for those that do. It just is not inherently in myself, to do so.
in reply to: Dealing with Back Troubles. #45780Thank you very much Don. I really appreciate your advice. I will pretty much stay the course with proper diet, exercise and some aspirin therapy. Been the course.. specialists, x-rays, bone scan, physical therapy… then told by Orthopedic doctor, “I can send you to another specialist”. Good Grief! LOL!
