I use to use Scotch Guard… but over time makes the feathers a little stiff for my liking. So Now I just use a fleece cover and leave it at that. Works fine. for my nocked arrow on stand, I just use a piece of plastic to drape over it

What’s your draw length? If assumed to be 28 inches than you need a 29 inch shaft from the valley of the nock to the bottom of the point. So add 5#, than if your points are 125 grains or heavier add another 5#. So your shaft spine shuld be 55-60#. If your draw length is less than 28 say 27 inches, than 50-55# would do it. Hope that helps.

There are those that believe less spine is better. And there are those that believe more spine is better – I always side on more spine.

Hi, Rich… I agree. As a broadhead collector I have faired far better with blanket trades, flea markets, gargage sales, local advertisement, etc. the old fashioned route. @BAY has really killed the art of collecting some of the prices for broadheads border on ridiculous! I hae seen the same broadhead on @BAY go for 10 dollars one week and 50 dollars at another week.

I don’t normally buy broadheads off @Bay but it is a good place to see what broadheads are circxulating, and even find a new vintage head not seen before. But that’s about it.

in reply to: HUNTING PARTNERS #60965

I am of the same way. I have hunted mostly alone for most of my life. When my son’s were growing up, my oldest hunts, but is busy with a young daugther and career to work on, and my younger son fishes. I truly relish any time with either one of them in the woods and on the waters. But mostly, it is solo. I have hunted the past couple of years with another Trad Bow member here. Alex, and I do share a sense of respect, about the animals, the ethic of hunting, and mutual respect for each other.

But, as a solo hunter, fisherman… it is personal journey, an imspirational journey, replenishing energy for my spirit and food for my soul.

I agree with Steve. Seems to me you are unintentionally collapsing on the shot. I have this problem from time to time myself. I have to remind myself the bow arm does not move until I see the fletch in the target. However, if you are not pushing the bow arm out and pulling through with the drawing hand, the force of the bow is involuntarily moving your bow arm in. suspect you may be plucking the string. The practice exercise I do with close bale work every week, 1) as Howard Hill would say, keep a firm steady bow arm, extend or pushing out to the target, 2) pull through with the drawing hand / arm. When my shot is complete the fletch is in the target, and my drawing hand thumb is touching my rear shoulder. Good Luck.

Wow.. I have to agree this is really deep. And a Big one for me as well. Theese are strictly my beliefs and opinions on this matter, it is neither right or wrong. It just my belief. That said… MANY Theologians today agree on the subject that all animals have a soul, They have a soul because they have the breath of Life which can only come from God. God is ever present and in all things. Our Creator gave us “dominion” over the animals, which to me means responsibility over the animals. It is not to be taken lightly, overly celebrated or without respect. For the animals we kill fall within the Creators sight. I never “pray” for a kill, for our Creator loves His animals too. Otherwise He would not have created so many. But I am always thankful for the opportunity, and pray in terms of thankfulness. And in the end, in the act of hunting and taking a life, I am ever mindful of my own mortality, and my accountability for my actions.

                    Read my closing Salutatiion!:)

Well Done, Fallguy! Like Dave I am also feel akin to predators. But, also agree the Wolf and Grizzly and the Elk and all creatures great and small have there place. Omit one, and the whole system suffers from imbalance.

That said.. I also agree in sound wildlife management – that includes predators. It is just not within me to shoot them.

Yes what Dave said. I just finished chopping over 4 dozen turkey feathers a couple of weeks ago. Although, these were already split and ground. They are quite old, but I had no problems.
