in reply to: What ya got goin? #31113Yard work up the ying yang,a combination of rider, push mower and weed eater.Fixed a broken well water line and working on the driveway.Been too pooped to shoot a few arrows but on the plus side I’m losing my winter fat.Speaking of volcanoes,my sister and a few friends went to mount St.Helens and were going to stay the night. For some reason they decided to pack up and come home instead. The next day she blew.Lucky for her.
in reply to: Caroline & David Petersen #22557Wishing the best for both of you .God bless. Brian and Kim.
in reply to: Eye Glasses for Archery? #22555Steve I have been wearing glasses for about a year now.I have two pair, one I can shoot with and the other I cannot. The difference is the size of the glasses.Small square frames work the best for me.I shoot three under without a problem and I shoot better when I can see better. When you buy a pair put your hand at anchor and if it touches the frame try a smaller pair.Best of luck! Brian.
in reply to: Playing with brace height #61126My arrows were hitting to the left and I had built out my shelf.I started by twisting up my brace height to 7″5/8. Shot better but getting vibration.(recommended brace height is 7″1/4 to 7″1/2) Removed layer of shelf plate(had two) and ended up at a brace height of 6″7/8.My groups really tightened up and the bow is a lot more quiet.Arrow flight is great.Shooting gt 5575 with 100 gr brass inserts/ 300 gr field points.Foc 29%
in reply to: string wear #56501Steve Graf wrote: another thing that can help patch things up is to wrap some dental floss tightly over the serving where you nock the arrow. When the floss wears out, easy enough to replace it.
I use dental floss. Then I carefully melt it with a bic lighter.Holds up well.

in reply to: FASHION SHOW #47860I like camo but don’t care for the long sleeve tee shirts.I don’t know if its me but a loose fitting button up shirt seems cooler in hot weather.Problem is I cant find one I like in a camo pattern. All seem heavy material. So this year I think I’ll go cotton camo pants and cotton plaid shirt. There is always the flip flops and loin cloth option but my brother once got poison ivy on his butt taking a field dump in the woods, so that’s probably not a good idea.

in reply to: How do you draw? #43216Swing draw for me.3 fingers under, corner of mouth anchor. When I got back into trad archery I bought one of those sfr sights from 3 rivers. Was shooting ok at 20 yrds. One day I thought how would I do without it, (I used to bowfish carp with a recurve and do pretty good instintive shooting) shot and completely missed the haybale. That was enough for me.Took the damnable thing off and shot gap(split finger) split eye, then both eyes open.Finger pinch was killing me so went to 3 under ( back to instinctive) and loved it. I practice standing, squatting, and crouching with a cant out to 40 yards.Hunt within 20. Stand on a bank to practice downhill, and below a bank uphill.Sometimes I sit on a cedar planter (no dirt) to simulate stool shooting.I do best picking a spot and concentrating on it.Simplicity and watching a arrow in flight is what I love about trad archery. When you make that shot and It all comes together beats the hell out of wheels.
