Alex that was the same problem the first gen Keyes hunting gear pack had. The work around if it fits for you is to put PVC tubes with end caps in there if not you can try there next gen which takes cares of the problems but they have gone up in price.

Alex your first link looks like a copy of the Keyes hunting gear pack. I have used the Keyes model after reading a review in TBM. However when I added a rainjacket and water bladder< could not remove broadhead tipped arrows to hunt from the pack. I know they make a larger model now meant for broadhead tipped arrows. I have noow tried this pack for testing but not in a hunting scenario yet. Will let you know once elk season starts. https://gohornhunter.com/Products/HornHunter/HornHunterPacks/tabid/1018/CatalogItemID/1710/CatalogID/43/psnavcmd/CatalogItemDetails/psmid/1977/Default.aspx

Well as an update to this original post after looking at the packs Bruce posted a link to I went with one of the HornHunter daypacks with included quiver and have got that to work. The only downside to this model pack is it is a little short in the torso. However I like the position of the quiver being low enough that the arrows do not interfere with my draw but are the close by to get to. Note I also tried last fall the safari tuff side quiver but ended up disappointed carrying it and a daypack together led to my Aluminum arrows making noise if I tried to still hunt, so I ended up stuffing fleeces gloves up there to keep the arrows quiet.

Really like the deign and build of this bow. How difficult was the bolt mount drilling to do in the belly of the riser

I am not surprised with the removal in one way after all he is supposed to be representing CA as there game and fish commissioner so he was supposed to set an example that the others under him should follow and by going out of state to hunt a species illegal to hunt in his own sate set a bad precedent.

I know we can argue he did this on hos own time but in this day and age were everyone is over connected, the argument is made he has no free time when he is in office and under a microscope.

He could of waited to out of office and had no problem, but I think the bigger problem some of the responders to the article were saying was the problem was the hunt was paid for by someone else which represented a conflict of interest and so he had to pay it back. You can bet that is what the state will use to argue for justification as his removal.

Personally I think that is cool he got to hunt a lion which is on my to do list with a longbow.

in reply to: Why do you hunt #11489

I love spending my time in the woods and enjoy whether I am hunting for elk or mushrooms or other small game. I grew up spending my time in the woods playing and find it a place to get in touch with who I am. As far as the hunting industry yes they to me are falling into insanity in that they desire to have spokes people good or bad who can be celebrated by the size of game shot or using the newest weapon or that they are famous for being a rock star. Which to me are horrible role models for the next generation. I still like the stories from Howard hill which were as much about the journey as the game to me.

Along with checking brace height you may want to check and see if your string need to be waxed or if something else in the equipment might have changed. I only say this if you have not changed any thing in your technique. It might be your technique has reached the limit of marksmanship you are obtaining and you might need to clean that up. Though the best way yo do that is with video. Like the other posters before my release is the cleanest when i do a a little remember in my head to follow through and have my string arm go backwards and the bow arm to go forward, I think G. Fred Asbell calls it the push pull release in his shooting books.

I would think for cleaning that you can wipe down with a wet rag and you should be good, if it is the original string for the bow you might want to get some stringwax and work in or have it checked to see if you need a new one. If you have not hunted much before, do you have a local archery club you could join? You might be able to find a mentor there who can steer you in the right direction with hunting help. After all while it is possible to convey what to try over the internet, getting out in the woods and learning the area and experiencing it first hand can help a lot with your growth. All the books are good to read, i also bought to watch DVD’s since sometimes for me I get more out of watching then reading, so i got Masters of the Barebow series which talk about form and technique for shooting. Have fun on the journey of archery.

I don’t know if it is regulation, but my understanding is that that a tab is more accurate for competition shooting from talking to competitive shooters.

Love the magazine, I even bought for the content to read while still shooting a compound. It helped with the conversion to trad which is what I needed to do sooner but was putting off.

Really like the bow Troy are you now going to create another Frankenstein arrow to shoot through this bow. I am curious did you shoot it without the string silencers first to see if it needed them or not?
