          Scout…

Gerald Johnson of Borger, TX made Yellowjacket Longbows. He retired from bow building several years ago.

He’s now retired to a place where the mule deer bucks that come to visit his backyard will make you drool…The Texas panhandle area.. We have some really good deer in this part of the world.  Access to them though………………………….

Gerald has been a very dear friend for many years.

I have recently been the grateful recipient of the last two bows that he made. The one shown is the last one. She be 60 inches and 41# @ 28″.   She’s my “Lady G”………..

Gerald’s bows are highly thought of by those who own one.

One of my “kick my butt” deals from the past when I let one go in a trade.

Traded for a Hoyt ‘Mamba’………….t’was an excellent bow also.

Now have neither and if’n I knew…………….I’d still have both.

                Feather rests???

Longevity? Affected by a damp dewy day? I understand a rainy day prob not good.

I’m curious before I  attempt to build one.

Got little to do right now but keep an eye on the weather.

This happened in Wellington, TX , on the watch for similar here today.

                  That’s a bummer David.

Hope all goes well for you.

Scout, I don’t know about ticks in NM. I’m sure they’re out and about.

I can tell you for sure that the worst batch of chiggers I’ve ever had were collected the first time I went bowhunting in the Timberon area.

From the armpits to big toe.

I used to hunt the Guadalupes out of Carlsbad/Artesia area, never chiggers.

You know how long that’s been? :-)) I tell you that a nonresident archery license was $35 and over the counter.

Back to David!! Hope you get well soon.

Ground hogs, road hogs are plentiful, an occasional tree hog to be expected I guess. 🙂

                    Neat pic.

I used a popular search engine and ask “what distance is a score?”

I guarantee what we are sharing, sensible or my nonsense, make way better sense than what came up on my computer.

So I’m outta here with a score being twenty of whatever you have twenty of IMHO…or what you are tallying on a score card/board.

Andrew Jackson figured out what a score of dollars is.  . :-))

“4 score and 7 yrs” is 87 yrs.

                        That be a record for a flight shoot… :-)))

I still got 13 years before that arrow lands “I shot an arrow in the air, where it lands I know not where”…

Doc Nock told me I was full of wisdom this morning.

Me, I’m thinking it’s more like full of ****.

I got my Texas Atlas out the other day to see where a city that one of the grandsons was curious about as to where it was located.

You talk about getting strange looks…………………………

Wonder what woulda happened had I given him an old road map to refold????    :-))))

I read, if lost, go downhill, eventually lead one to water. Follow water downstream, eventually lead to civilization….

                            Really…………………………..

One thing about it, my arrow is always in the hole where I put it.

Picking and putting that hole with the arrow in it, in the right place consistently, seems to be the daily challenge.

Some days I’m really good at hitting a moving hole (it moves all over the target).   :-)) Others, the planned hole is made.   :-)))))
