in reply to: Yea,,, I know I'm pushing the limits #11595
We’d still be using a bent branch strung with old Ug’s thong if it wasn’t for new ideas. I like it. I figure if people were primitive enough to be griping about primitive they wouldn’t be reading this. Be looking for smoke signals listening for drums beats on a log.
I think it’s a cool looking bow and cool idea.
in reply to: Being followed #9816My wife and I and a buddy were stump shooting up at our lease a few years back and my wife had to go tend to her business. She went up this dirt track a ways out of sight and did so. About an hour later her and I tootled up the track to shoot and look for arrowheads. At the spot where she had done her thing there were fresh coyote tracks and the coyote had left it’s pee marks in a couple of places around my wife’s spot. Needless to say I had a “close” companion for the rest of the day and her looking for arrowheads was history. She to busy looking for critters to look at the ground. 😀
in reply to: Being followed #9764Neil, I dreamed it was women tailing me once but when I woke up I knew it was one of ausiejim’s pipe dreams :D:D
in reply to: Photos of Where You Hunt? #9675Mule deer, whitetails and turkey roam here. This is one of my favorite spots just to sit and do nothing.
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #64031This is “Mountain Spirit” that I made many years ago with the wilds of the mountain man on my mind. It has been passed to the next generation. My son sent this pic today and said the knife saved him in a dream last night. Wild!!!
in reply to: Gas Prices Keeping Me At Home #63888It’s like I just got the info on the Texas Hill Country Shootout TBOT shoot in Vanderpool, Tx. Would be fun but it’s 504 mi. (810 km to some of y’all blokes 😆 ). About 8 hr., at least, drive each way. Dang that be hard on an old retiree’s budget. Good old Amarillo is far from everywhere!!! Fuel prices increasing distances now 😥
in reply to: Anyone eat coyote? #63629Wonder if it tastes like chicken?
in reply to: Gas Prices Keeping Me At Home #63609Price of diesel made my venison cost me more dearly 😕 this year!
in reply to: Anyone eat coyote? #63000In the hard times of winter among the American Indians from what I’ve read it was not a good idea to be a dog. I can’t see why there would be any difference other than for in modern times our dogs probably have more meat on their bones plus a “little” more fat than either coyotes or Native American dog types. And I’m sorry but if I trap and kill a mouse or a rat I ain’t eatin’ it. Go for it if you want. Skunks either.
Would love to say “Sneak from tree to tree” but it seems the between is more so than the trees! 😀
An old self bow hunter told me “just play like you ain’t there and go as slow as you can then put’er into granny and slow down”.
In this case, pick another spot methinks.
Ralph!
I enjoy hunting, fishing, shooting, life. I enjoy the joy of others as that increases mine. I like learning even if it doesn’t take much to get over my head. Life is good. I’m a simple guy and I’m happy with simple things. I get unhappy when I miss a 3-D target but I go right on to the next one and miss it too then go home and never miss anything in my yard. No harm in seeking perfection I guess as long as I can recognize and accept the imperfections that exist. And, if I’m seeking solitude all I have to do is start singing and I’m all by myself in a heartbeat. 😆
in reply to: Nothing is wasted … #57801Thanks! Good luck. There’s dreams and then there’s pipe dreams…..The fun ones :lol:
in reply to: Archery Library #57295Yeah, thx. I haven’t read the Thompson Bros. in years. And not when the ink was still wet Mr. David. 🙂
in reply to: Nothing is wasted … #57288Hey Jim, speaking of critters, these don’t fly thank goodness, but a dear friend of mine and his family were in Australia last year hunting water buff. His wife filmed their whole escapade. She did rather well with the camera actually. They were using rifles, big’un’s, and those buffalo are big and bigger and huge. Pertaining to the archery business, what do you know about taking them down with trad gear. I’ve read old stories but do you have any personnel experience yet? Plans to? Anyone else with experience? New thread perhaps?
in reply to: Mental Clutter and Stump Shooting #57275Sweet it is!! I was all grumpy and tired of “kid” things today. Went out and shot for awhile and all is well. Mostly anyway:D:D. I’m certainly glad for my parents sake that I was a perfect child. 😉
