Steve Turay makes the Northern Mist Baraga in a two-piece takedown version.

Precisely! A theory is a theory, because it’s not accepted as fact. Once proven wrong, by any means, it’s no longer a theory. Well, there are some things that have been proven wrong but we still accept them, but I digress… 🙂
in reply to: Left Wing, Right Wing,,,no difference #41823The clamp determines where the fletching sits on the shaft, so no matter whether they are right or left wing it shouldn’t matter. BUT, it just seems they’d be harder to fletch and there’d be more of a chance they’d fall off…especially if you are using a drastic helical setting.
in reply to: Dose this happen to any one else? #41818Honestly, I can’t say that I’ve ever paid attention, and now that I shoot 4 fletch, and all the same color feathers, I don’t have a way of checking.

Sorry, every once in a while I can really help…this isn’t one of those moments.

This beautiful movie is also on Netflix, Dersu Uzala. thanks, dUnfortunately, not as a download though. 👿
David Petersen wrote: Patrick — the movie is easily available on dvd, and possibly via Roku or one of the other instant-watch outlets. In fact there are two versions and I have both. The original is in Russian with English subtitles–that’s the one to get.
Just paid for, and now awaiting its arrival. 😀

Filmed in the Russian far east where the true story took place around the opening of the 19th century. Subtitled. Spellbinding and Dersu is as “traditional” as they come, though he hunts with an old rifle, not a bow. dp
Dave, for some bizarre reason, I got the impression from your book that that movie was no longer available. I’m happy to find that my impression was wrong.:)
in reply to: Private Messages #35484It probably would help too, if I wouldn’t take so long to reply. 😳

in reply to: Very high pitched sounds #28395First, there is NO WAY a deer can hear your heartbeat!
I’m curious…if you have a dog, try turning your hearing aid(s) on and off while observing them to see if THEY respond in any way. If they don’t, I doubt you need to be concerned about a deer. My guess is you have nothing to worry about. Just my 1 cent worth…and that’s only because of inflation!:lol:
Oh, oops…I said the same thing FUBAR already mentioned. 😳

FYI: If you click the “YouTube” button just to the right of “watch later”, it’ll open up the direct link/YouTube page.
in reply to: String Silencers what is the best for you ? #28361LimbLover wrote: I tried the leather as well and it seems to work just fine. I prefer Beaver Balls at the end of the day. I shoot a D-style longbow though and do not require a whole lot of suppression. The beaver simply lessons the string vibration a bit.
…oh and it looks cool too! 😛
A naked bowstring just seems odd to me.
I like the leather because it will likely never wear out. I’d rather have a naked string, but I can’t stand the buzzing sound. I prefer the minimalist approach.
in reply to: tuning nocks #22544If you find that you do have to open up the throat of the nocks some, I’ve found that using a very small file with very fine teeth works great.
