in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #40780
I have no idea what I meant by that…really! 😆
I was short on time and was typing fast and furiously and I didn’t review it. 😳
My bow is a 59# Elkheart and my draw length is 29″. My arrows are spined 80-84, 21/64″ diameter (I have 11/32″ shafts of the same spine as well). I use 145 grain points.
My bow seems quiter, not the arrows.
I’m assuming the rest of your questions are rhetorical. 😆
in reply to: Re-Thinking old Thoughts on Woodies #40189Now that I’ve been shooting woodies for a while, here’s my two cents worth (that accounts for inflation):
I buy and shoot mine full length. Sound accordingly, of course.
They’re quieter than all other arrows.
I will never be able to go back to carbon, aluminum, etc. I just love shooting wood arrows.

I’m doing this on my next batch.

How nobody wanted bows to be allowed for hunting…till St. Charles and Fred Bear started putting good animals on the ground and showing it was a formidable tool of fair chase harvest!
Evolution of Pope & Young Club is presented along with all the rocky trails leading to it…
I read that one over once a year!
I never forgot this suggestion, and just this last Saturday, I picked up one of two copies sitting on the book shelf at Jay’s Sporting Goods I had been eye balling every time I’d stop by. I absolutely love it…great book!

That’s the way I like ’em. Easier to find!
in reply to: New Dwyer Endeavor #32272Very nice. That grip is sweet! Is it leather?

Congrats! 8)
in reply to: How we sharpen our broadheads. #28983I use Eclipse broadheads. To sharpen them, I use the Arrow Grabber to secure the arrow and broadhead and sharpen it with a file, and then finish it off with a leather strop.
in reply to: Seats vs The Ground #26917I can’t last very long, literally sitting in the ground. I love my Hammock Seat.
in reply to: 36" wool pants #46537I wear a 36″ inseam and I bought the First Lite Kanab pant, and it’s definitely long enough. I intentionally purchased a large because they’re longer. Plus it allows me to bulk up underneath when I need more warmth. I love them!
in reply to: Question: wipe on poly #22897Ugh. True…they grow up fast. 😥
in reply to: Question: wipe on poly #18080I went from using tape to Duco and seem to prefer Duco, but I suppose it does depend on the stain and sealant combo used with it. Correction, my SON uses Duco, as he’s now the official family fletcher. 🙂
