Would be interested as well…believe I read same review elsewhere…I’ve also been thinking of getting one myself but still having hard time w price. It seems that quality is certainly top notch though….
in reply to: "The Good Hunt" links #60752Hey Dave (and all you guys)…
I certainly appreciate your point above and I don’t take it as any type of solicitation or even fund raising by one of our favorite “old guys…” 😀
I look at it as an extension of who and what we all are here on this forum. No such film exists, that I’ve seen at least, that shows US, as we truly are, the best side of us, unadulterated by any commercial interest – well meaning as it generally is (I speak specifically of our favorite mag and it’s advertisers who, though they are in business and need to reach us as their primary consumers/customers, ply their business practices completely above board and with a keen caring eye to our environ, the critters in it, and care for each).
I think this project for you Dave, and others like Dr. Don T, Dr. Ed etc who have made a career for themselves (whether primary or not) in our Trad world, AS WELL AS the rest of us loyal readers/supporters of you, is a natural “next step”. IMHO, we NEED to be behind a project like this, to tell the story, the real story of our love for our natural world and the critters God put there for us to chase, nourish our families with and enjoy.
I’ve been touched today by the very idea of what you and your partner are doing. It’s not something I’ve heard of, or frankly thought about in these terms, before today. Of course not all of us can financially support this (or much of anything in this economy!)and should not be made to feel otherwise, but I think we all should get behind the project and tell whoever will listen so that we can truly get the word out.
I’m proud to support this project and wish you the best of luck Dave, not only for the hunt itself but for the entire film. Can’t wait to see it and feel free to PM/post with anything I can do to support it.
Be well and God Bless,

in reply to: "The Good Hunt" links #60512Simply fantastic. Words can’t express how I felt listening /reading the piece Dave. I’m in at whatever amount I’ll be able to squeeze out by the 4th. Whatever it is I just wish it was more….
Cheers my friend to you and your partner…a noble undertaking I’d be privileged to be even a small part of 😀

in reply to: How's your elk season going, Mr. Petersen? #56376It’s the beauty of what we do Dave (and all the rest here!).
I firmly believe in my heart the certainty of the exasperating uncertainty of our pursuits is exactly what keeps us coming back…
The only thing I know for sure is that the critters we all so love can make you blanking’ CRAZED blankin’ quick! 😕
Bruce. Some incredible posts my brother!!
I gotta also tell you that shadow picture of you and your bow is truly awesome. Needs to be a screen saver or something!
As for all the bear comments, my 13 y/o and I just got back from Maine. He scored but was upset it was with a rifle! Outfitter had a spot where they were seeing one regularly but set up as a rifle stand (hunting baits, with dogs and some glassing VERY unique place for Maine!). Anyway,he got his first blackie at 13! ( I was 29!). And good thing too. The rest of us saw NOTHING but still a tremendous amount of sign. We spoke w other outfitters as well as local shop owner and everyone reported same thing. It’s like they went underground. Not seeing them in the fields or even on the baits. I did get “picked off” however and this is why they are amazing critters. About hour before dark I was in stand, perfect wind. I don’t think I moved but you know that feeling that your not alone? well about 30 seconds after I had that feeling and subsequent hairs standing up a virtual explosion went off not 15 yards away and I heard the pounding of what must’ve been a 5000 lb animal bolting then all quiet… Then hiked mile down trail in the dark very wide eye’d to meet my outfitter 😯
in reply to: @ George D. Stout #49671That’s the whole point of the Trad Life IMHO 😀
in reply to: Congratulations Dave Petersen! #32098You are a mentor and inspiration Dave…well deserved 😀

in reply to: Hand shock or "damn my elbows hurt"!! #20349That’s what I’m afraid of!…I could deal with medical nonsense but a long winded injury is doubly annoying 🙄
😀

in reply to: Surplus Wool Quality? (it just showed up) #20324Top end stuff is great Don….price is ridiculous though…just got off KOM site…add just about $1000 to my calculation of what I WOULD have spent buying new in my pst above…crazy! 😯
in reply to: Hand shock or "damn my elbows hurt"!! #19796Hey L & R2
Yes, I do have a pretty severe issue called JRA (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis). I have a rare form, when I flare, my entire body, all joints as well as most major organs, become severely inflamed…usual course of treatment is heavy steriods (cortico, not anabolic, such as prednisone) multiple NSAIDS, as well as biological agents such as Humira etc…really sucks but we muddle though! I got too many critters left on the “Bow Bucket List” to worry about…tell my wife (who lost her leg to bone cancer 20 yrs ago ) have pills, will travel!u
To familiar with therapists etc unfortunately…been trying to drill this down to see if indeed shooting related or some other craziness going on…
As for time being of the essence, we are going to Maine…originally tried to get in to the Black Widow hunt, only had one opening when we booked and I’m want to be with my son so we going following week. Roger Toby and the Widow folks pulling out as we pull in! Going with Squa Pan Mt Outfitters, Tony and Lynn Boucher. Seem like terrific folks in a real pretty area. My first trip to Maine so looking forward to it – my son’s 13th Bday gift ( works out for Dad too 😀 much to my wife’s chagrin )…look at their site,…awesome place to go with a youngster – deer/bear/fishing/moose ( if you win the coveted Maine lottery 🙄 ). And, cant beat price for the youngsters…don’t know if Tony publishes the deal but it’s MIGHTY impressive 😯 😆 😀
Hunting some property not too far from mine in Adirondacks couple years ago, got stand set etc….happened to look up a tree about 5-6 yards away from me (I’m about 15-16′ up in ladder stand) and see two tree hooks and a bungee cord hanging from one of them about 20′ up the tree! Shot a nice 280lb Blackie with a white chest blaze that night 😯
in reply to: Hand shock or "damn my elbows hurt"!! #19263I’ve been shooting quite a bit in anticipation of upcoming bear hunt (approx 2 weeks away)… I’ve never felt what I consider a hand shock with either bow I’ll be hunting with this year. Always assumed hand shock would be an obvious, noticeable feeling upon release of the arrow…
Am I wrong? Could hand shock be something you don’t feel immediately but that could go on and cause a “tennis elbow” type injury :?::?:
