in reply to: Dec/Jan issue #16761Thanks for the info TJ, not complaining, just anxious. No digital version for me either. I like everything, the anticipation of opening the mailbox, the cover art, opening the plastic cover and physically holding/flipping the pages. Almost as good as, well, you know…

in reply to: Deer Hunters…Morning or Evening? #15439Well, I’ve only been able to get out twice now since our season has started. I still work George. Someday I’ll be in your shoes. I’m sincerely happy for you. So for me, I love the morning also but I’ll take whenever I can. I’m trying not to be picky. However I’ve yet to see a deer when I’ve been out. The season is young though and the rut is around the corner…

in reply to: Shrew in Sherwoo.. huh, no, Manhattan Forest #59023Good luck my friend. Have fun practicing your form. I too live in a similiar, communal, situation. I live in a townhouse community. I find much solice down in the garage shooting diagonally across. It doesn’t do much for distance practice but my form is great, or so I think. Take care.

For what it’s worth, when I was in the Army I bought myself a pair of Matterhorn’s. Those were probably the best boot I’ve ever owned. They lasted me well, past my time in the service, and the only reason they failed was my neglect. Now it’s been a few years and I’m not sure if they’re the same quality but yo may want to research them a little. I can still hear my drill Sgt. “Don’t cheat your feet son”. That guy still gives me the willies…

in reply to: Wind check feather #34951I’m not sure of the type of feather I have on my recurve. It was a small feather that happened to be in my stand one afternoon when I went hunting. I snagged it and tied it on with some dental floss when I got home that evening. It pretty, it’s a bright yellow and fades to a green. To cool to leave floatin’ on a breeze.

in reply to: Snake skins on my recurve limbs #62083Your bow looks great! I love your choice of skins. I did mine myself. There’s a great satisfaction looking at it and knowing I did it myself! Nice job!

in reply to: Small Game Heads #35647I just made up some flu flu’s with the Ace hex-head. I’m going pheasant hunting on the 2nd of December. I’ll let you know how I do!

in reply to: Recurve or longbow your choice and why? #29870I shoot a take-down recurve. I’ve tried two longbows, donated one to Iraq and sold the other. I built a red oak board bow. I love shooting it. But I always seem to grab my recurve when heading out the door to hunt. Not sure why.

in reply to: Wensel woodsman for elk #64136Red Beard,
I’m glad you asked this question. These just happen to be the heads I shoot because I can get them the sharpest. I’ve tried two blade, single bevel and four blade. I’ve tried this sharpener and that one. But a file and a Wensel Woodsman and I just get along. Now if you look at their website I believe one of the Mitten brothers took a rather large moose with their head. Is a moose different than an elk? I’d like to think it comes down to sharpness of the broadhead and accuracy when it’s all said and done. I’ve never had the chance to hunt/shoot one though…
