in reply to: Animas River Toxic Release #13071I think I used the word “Pristine” to describe the difference from where it was to where it is now. I understand that most rivers that run through a town are usually not gold medal quality and usually show signs of over use and abuse. I’m sure that it won’t change my mind on living there, just such a bad situation with hopefully no log-lasting toxic effects to the citizens of the area. The other rivers that I have seen in Colorado that have been affected like this include the Alamosa river which had a bad leak/release over 30 years ago, it’s still a dead river for the most part. Hope all goes well for you and that it is indeed mitigated to the satisfaction of those who rely on it.
in reply to: Untamed by Clay Hayes to be released Aug. 17 #11893I’m very much looking forward to seeing this movie as its release is perfect in relation to when this years elk season begins. On another note, can someone refresh my memory about the movie that Dave Petersen was either in or had technical input into its content. I may have missed the release of this movie. Thanks.
in reply to: Planning an Elk Hunt #15417Patrick,
I’m from Idaho and hunt in unit 32A (Weiser River Zone) Over the counter hunt. I’ve got a cabin close to where I hunt and can either stay out and pack in to hunt or come back to the cabin after dark for dinner and a shower or do both on an extended trip. If so, let me know and we could work out details if you’d like. Our Fish and game site has much information for you to research in making your decision. Let me know if this is of interest to you. Good Luck!

in reply to: Caroline & David Petersen #40409Dave,
I was just checking in here on Tradbow and saw that your Caroline had passed away. I read through all of the posts of support and wanted to offer my respects and let you know how sorry I am for your loss. I have met you several times but never had the chance to meet Caroline, only through your writings, which painted a wonderful picture of a very special person. Look forward to seeing you the next time your in Eagle, Idaho.

in reply to: Reply To: No Elkheart?!?!? #57423Hi Dave,
I haven’t been on here for a spell but have been wondering where you’ve been in the magazine. I, like so many others, will miss your words of wisdom and direction. I will look forward to your new books as they become available. Thanks for putting bowhunting in perspective.
in reply to: Congratulations Dave Petersen! #61963Congratulations Dave! Looking forward to the release of the documentary, long overdue.
in reply to: How were your Coues' deer hunts,Mr. Petersen? #54553Very nice! Looks like you’ve mastered this species, what’s next:wink:
in reply to: Discipline in the field #39068Thanks for all of your pointers and refreshers, tomorrow I will be putting to use all of skills that I have. A five day hunt in the Idaho wilderness. I’ll let ya’ll know how it goes. Have a good one.
in reply to: Barta on techno-BS #39051Dave,
I have watched Tred Barta on his T.V. show several years ago and thought that the two of you were eerily similar in your outlook toward hunting and ethics. Although both of you have different styles, Tred (outspoken, abrasive, east coast- in your face delivery, while wielding a machete) and you (outspoken, challenging, thought provoking with a fencers grace) each get the same message accross and are able to effect so many more people because your approach IS so different. I think a new Traditional show with you and Tred as hosts should be piloted and aired as soon as Elk season is over:)in reply to: Congratulations Dave #38990Congratulations Dave, another fine animal for you (and us) to enjoy. I hope to do the same tomorrow as I head out for a five day hunt.
in reply to: Discipline in the field #31555Thanks for the response “T”. I like what you have to say, I think this may serve as a great blue print on what I need to be doing but haven’t. These are things that I know and have practiced but it sure helps to have it spelled out by another and to know that it has worked for them. I welcome any other tidbits that any of you may have as I’ll let ya all know how the next two weeks go. Good hunting.
