in reply to: Lars Andersen–a great Dane! #20101
There is not enough digital memory for me to make 1/10 of the shots he did in that video. So I have no problem accepting that he is a master of his craft.
in reply to: Bison and bunnies #20094Right on Dave. If we humans do not accept that we are 1 cog in the wheel of life and not the axle we are destined to destroy the apple cart.
in reply to: Rattlesnake skin camouflage… #15062To Doc and Forager I believe you both are speaking the same language. “Respect for All living Things” There is no need to go out of your way to hunt down and destroy other species for doing what they are designed to do to maintain the web of life.
Critich they do work well as camo just be careful if you hunt with someone that has a strong fear of snakes. A bow laying horizontal under a bunk in the tent could end up as kindling for the fire.
Great Video Clay. Please list what you find to be your favorite books on animal tracks.
in reply to: My condolences Don #59711Sorry to hear of your families loss Don.
Just came across these on another forum. The price is right. They are supposedly the Military issue.

in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #54111Here is a knife that a good friend made me years ago it is patterned off a flint blade that was in a museum in Nebraska some place if I remember right. Don it is not around to ask where exactly anymore.
in reply to: You mite want to see this #52994I will not go into detail on my feeling here(out of respect for MOM) Lets just say that Killing for cash does not appeal to me whether it be animal or human.
in reply to: Does it really matter ? #49718Iron Bull I have been trying to find the article I read about 6 weeks ago on this very subject. The author stated that if the carcass freezes during the rigamortis process the muscle will be tough.
DWCphoto, if you are looking for another book to share with your son try Gary Paulsen’s book “The Hatchet”. If the 2 of you enjoy that one he has several other titles that are good for young and old. My son and I read at least 6-8 of them when he was in his early teens.
in reply to: What ya got goin? #48613Nice pics Smithhammer. If you get called to rescue a trapped wolverine do not forget the camera and your chainmail.
in reply to: Traditional Snowshoes for Hunting #46905Smithhammer you really know how to hurt a guy. We had a foot of snow the second week of November and a month later it was gone. We now have 1 1/2″ of snow so instead of skiing today I will be helping cut trees on a new trail section hoping for enough snow tomorrow to ski on. Enjoy that white stuff while you have it.
in reply to: Traditional Snowshoes for Hunting #44803Beautiful view you have there. If I was in the market for some new shoes that Rabbit Hunter style would be on the top of the list. Then again the kid has hijacked a couple pair of mine maybe I am in the market?
in reply to: Cat Quiver #44788Have a old one the Cat 1 I think. The pack on it was not big enough and it was difficult to carry when packing a treestand. Now they have models with larger packs. There other thing I did not like was it was difficult to hold 2 different lengths of arrows(broadheads and blunts).
