Doesn’t the balance point move due to the length of the lever? The field point has a more concentrated weight versus the broad head.

At our shoot we do not put any restrictions on arrow materials. We do not allow sights, string walking, or bino’s.

Dave have you compared them to the Tuffheads? I am going to buy one other before this fall. I have shoot the old Grizzlies and to say getting them sharp and the same weight was frustrating is an under statement.

You could try contacting the Pope & Young Club and PBS for help. I wold also check with any local archery clubs. I would also add Teddy Roosevelt, Don Thomas and Sigurd Olson to the reading list.

There is a problem with them in Minnesota also, the state Deer hunters organization has pushed legal cross country travel. Why because it is to hard to get a deer 300 yards back to the truck. With that came permanent stands of any size on public land. Now we have a baiting problem. Why? Because when you haul it on a machine and not your back there is no place you won’t go. Drive around the state 2 weeks before the season and you see blaze orange clothes hanging on the clothes line airing out. Then watch opening morning as they hop on the ATV and drive it to there stand then complain that they did not get a deer. Wonder why they and there machine smell of exhaust. Now they want to blame the wolf for their unfilled tag. The wolves have always been here. Grandpa got his deer.

Bino’s for sure. Magnification? That depends on what and where you are hunting. Whitetails in thick cover low power 6 or 7. Antelope or sheep 8 or 10 power. I do not like compacts as they tend to have a smaller field of view and less light gathering ability. The ones I carry for most everything are Bausch & Lomb 7 X 42 Discoverer’s. You can’t get them any more they are a little on the heavy side. I use the bino strap that Barry Wensel sells and love it. As with all things in life no one thing is perfect for everything.

Minnesota has a minimum of 30lbs draw weight. We must not be as tough as the rest of you. Our illustrious legislature has proposed anyone over 55 be allowed to use a crossbow because 30lbs is to much to draw and hold.

Here is a link to Metro Bowhunters Resource Base they organize bow hunts in the Minneapolis- St. Paul Minnesota metro area. They have been doing metro archery hunts for over 10 years. They should be able to answer any questions you may have. http://mbrb.org/mbrb/index.htm

King what are you using on the front of your arrows to get the weight? I shoot 60#’s also with a 28″ draw. I normally cut my shafts to 30″. I have been shooting 190 Grizzlies but plan to switch to Tuffheads next fall.

Be thankful that you have trained professionals making the decisions on game management. In my state the politicians make all the decisions with no basis in reality they only listen to the loud mouth with the most cash.
