That reminds me of a funny story I heard years ago about some people that where from Norway that were visiting relatives in Minnesota during the deer firearms season. They when out to the local bar restaurant for supper. Many of the deer hunter had come into the bar wearing there blaze orange hunting clothes. Most of them were drinking a considerable amount at the bar and getting drunk. The woman from Norway turned to her husband and said it was a very good idea that the Minnesotan’s had come up with to make the drunks wear blaze orange, that way you could see them coming. We have always tried to impress on our students in our hunter ed classes is that what ever you while or wearing your hunting clothes affects everyone involved with your sport.

in reply to: Caroline & David Petersen #35388Dave you and I have never shook hands but I consider you a friend. We have had the opportunity through this medium to exchange thoughts and ideas. Your cajoling and challenging ideas both here and in the magazine have required us to take a hard, deep look as to how we interact with nature and our fellow predators. For that I am grateful. So in your time of of loss I offer these few simple inadequate words of gratitude and comfort for your loss. Keep the broad head you recently found close to your heart. I believe it to be a powerful talisman that was placed in your path, who’s purpose is not to pierce your heart, but instead ease the pain with in.
A fellow tribesman,
Rob Bullis “Fallguy”

in reply to: Serving a bowstring (cheap & easy) #28170I have always done a series of over hand knots on the top and bottom of the string 2 layers finished with a square knot and glued. You do have to get a feel for how tight to pull the knots or it will move with every release or knot at all.8)
in reply to: "The Good Hunt" film update #28142Here here, this is the place to share our joys and sorrows with those that understand us and share our love of the outdoors as Mother Nature created it. 😉
in reply to: Caroline & David Petersen #22479Best wishes for both of you.

in reply to: Spring fever #13622Punxsutawney Phil, the King of the Groundhogs, was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after predicting an early spring.
I understand there thinking. There is such a high price for large elk antler sheds that some people will chase them into deep snow so they have to lunge to move, thus hoping this will dislodge the antler. Unfortunately greed is the only thing they see not the truly wonderful animal they are torturing and possibility killing.
in reply to: Fletching painted carbon shafts #9086I went to wraps also, my problem was the paint would not stay on the shaft. I tried model paints they worked better but were very spendy so I went with wraps.
