Smithy, i must have felt a disturbance in the force. As long as you weren’t talking bad about my blue crocs….
Better a fly on the wall than one on the windshield. Cheers dwc
in reply to: NJ Winter Bow #56094Alex, Sounds like a blast. Too bad you didn’t see any deer to get the blood pumping, but the friendships make it all good. peace, dwc
in reply to: Last PA bow hunt #56004Brennanherr,
I closed it out, too, last night. I put in about five hours in the morning and four in the afternoon/evening. I had squirrels all over me in the morning and the usual amount of titmice and chickadees. Got to see some bluebirds and a pileated woodpecker in the afternoon.
Watching the sun go down on the last of the last days is always sad. No venison for me this year except what was generously gifted. The best part now begins… getting ready for next year. All the best, david
in reply to: Does it really matter ? #55721From what I found I think it has to do with timing of the natural rigor mortis process. The muscle tightens then relaxes again. That process can take a couple of days and freezing interupts that process as well as the enzyme breaking down the fibers, which is the aging I was more familiar with. Dwc
in reply to: BOW SHOP IN NEW YORK #55112Yes. I’m sorry for the losses in your country. A tragedy to say the least. I wish you all the best. Dwc
in reply to: BOW SHOP IN NEW YORK #54808There might be a lot to shoot in NY, but no shooting, just pointing! Have a great trip. dwc
in reply to: BOW SHOP IN NEW YORK #54164There’s also Paragon in NYC. That might not have anything for hunting, directly, but they’ll have winter cloths. I’m sure you can find woolrich and pendleton in NY, and Uggs and Mulluks too. I also think Holland and Holland has a store still in Manhattan, although not on 57th st anymore. They let a poor sod like me handle anything on the racks. It was fun to point a 500 nitro double in NYC. Have fun. Dwc
h&h is at 10 E40th st in NY.
in reply to: Good Reads #54102Bet you got carded trying to buy clogs in some trendy resort-town co-op. Just gotta stay out of those places. Dc
in reply to: Bow restoring #53971Bought a new bow, a Pilgrim, for a Christmas present. It has a few scuffs on it. Not enough to bother sending it back, but what should I use to polich it? Thanks, dwc
in reply to: Sloooow Start, but Great Evening #53966Tomorrow’s the last day in my PA unit. Took a slow stroll today to see if i cod find some fresh trails but came up empty. Been fairly cold for these parts and there’s been very little deer activity. Should be about five degrees here, so maybe I’ll get some good squirrel watching in. Might try a completely different spot just for the heck of it. Good luck to all you PA hunters and folks in other states that are still open. Best, dwc
in reply to: NJ Winter Bow #53962Hey Alex. Don’t forget your woolies tomorrow! Should be a balmy ten degrees when you head out. Good luck. Dwc
in reply to: You mite want to see this #52942John. Contest “hunts” were popular here in PA a while back but haven’t heard much a out them recently. Seems like they’ve died off on their own. Killing for money is just the wrong way to go about it in my view. Dwc
in reply to: Home page article #51930Thanks for the heads up on this one. A nice read and reality check. Tony, I appreciate what’s going on in your heart. We said. Thank you, dwc
in reply to: The Trad Knife Thread #51785John. That’s beautiful. Can you tell more about the blade section? The handle looks like a stone or shell. Dwc
