That looks like a store bought version of aeronuts….

Obviously it works well — successful hunt….

Where in the lower 48 were you interested in hunting?

I have only hunted bear in the Southwest- AZ / NM. Mostly spot and stalk , some sitting on waterholes or likely natural feed. Neither of which is an easy hunt and never a sure thing. Although there seem to be a lot more bear out there now than in my youth….With pandemic travel restrictions coming and going ( especially in NM), not sure what will happen in the fall.

Years ago I owned a Black Swan longbow– shot well

A friend has it now, as I no longer can shoot a 75lber…

            Enjoy —

Glad it worked out ok. Learning by doing . I hope it turns into a good Shooter. Send us some pics when you get the bow finished.

                  Welcome to the forum

As Richard mentioned we need more info to give you suggestions on a proper size bowstring. I always recommend calling the manufacturer for the best information concerning their products, whenever possible.

I think his is the same stuff I use to camo my bow limbs ( cut glare on fancy finished bows). Works very Well for that also and doesn’t leave much residue ( easy to clean) after the season. For the handle area, I am good enuff with leather to make or rebuild the grip.

Ditto what Richard said. Sharp broadhead in the right spot is the key. Get inside your sure hit range —Remember to pick a spot….. ” aim small miss small”.

Yes – the closer the better one would think, in theory anyway. Some of those exotic small recurves seem built with that in mind….

                            Hi Dan

                            Welcome to the forum

I am not very Knowledgeable on self bows. However a number of our members have quite a bit of experience with them. Hopefully Steve will comment as he builds them.

What Richard said — and bug box are best.  A lot of taxidermists use em or know where you can get them, for a fee of course…

I used to skin and scrape clean —– boil and bleach. Put it up on the roof …
