Thanks Clay – that was one of my favorite vids so far. Good info and well communicated. You da man!
in reply to: Made a cool trade today! #38709One correction this bow had Red Elm veneers not sycamore. The bow I just finished has sycamore veneers so I had sycamore on the brain.
in reply to: Deep Woods Hunt #36213In my part of the country the only way to get away from the drive by hunters who hunt the fire roads in trucks is to load up my pack and head for the high country. My son and I spent time together in some beautiful country this year but it required 24 miles of packing that seemed like we were always going up hill. I loved every minute of it. We lived for a week off the trout in this lake…
in reply to: Made an archery glove #35789Very nice work and I love the clean simple look. Would love to see a “build along” as I don’t have much experience with leather work.
in reply to: Squirrels and Flu Flu Fletch #30279Thats pretty neat I will have to give that a try…
in reply to: First deer and thanks to Tradbow folks #29347So Cool! Awesome experience and on top of all the fun you have some tasty meat! What bow are you shooting?
in reply to: The search for a better bow #24527I agree with Doc in that you need to shoot some different bows to get a feel for what you like. I think in some ways a person can adjust to match the bow and that is fine. But the real joy is finding a bow that matches you. I shot recurve for a number of years and was fine with it but for some reason when I tried a longbow…I found what matched my style of shooting. You need something that feels good in your hand and that you hands fits into the same position with each shot. Since I am a longbow guy I don’t know how to advise you so much towards a good recurve…but if you venture into the longbow I could talk all day…
in reply to: Hand made Arm Gaurd #23374I agree with Doc…I would love to see a build along. It looks like a very comfy style.
in reply to: Longbow Doe #19960Congrats – It is awesome when it all comes together nicely like that!
in reply to: what is your favorite cover shot #10601Here is my favorite cover shot…
This is the ultimate image of my passion to be in the woods and the peace found in the experience.
in reply to: What is the complete opposite of a Camo Bow? #58400Thanks Troy – Good luck with the building projects I am sure you are making some beautiful furniture. I will probably wait until the first of the year to get some additional lams from you. I still have a few sets to build to finish out this year.
in reply to: What is the complete opposite of a Camo Bow? #56858Troy – I got the scarf joint so clean that you can’t see the seam on the back of the bow in the riser. I was planning on leaving it without an overlay. What do you think Would you put an overlay on and if so what would you use for wood selection. I was considering some Paduk.
in reply to: What is the complete opposite of a Camo Bow? #56849Ptaylor – yes you are right. With my work schedule I may go for a few weeks without being able to build but when I get a open week I get wrapped up in bow building. I love the process and I really love producing something beautiful and effect to shoot straight. I am addicted…in a good way.
in reply to: What is the complete opposite of a Camo Bow? #56844Hey Troy – that is your wood! Thanks for the awesome spliced wood. I choose to put some solid Osage on the belly so as to save the other spliced osage for a second bow of the same look. Even better than the look is the smooth shooting. This one is mine! I have had several friends ask to purchase it and I just laugh.
It won’t be long and I will be getting some more lams from you – hope you’re ready!
