Looks much nicer than usual Ralph. Has it been a good season for rain?
in reply to: Organized work area? #31350Kev,
I have a piece of plywood, about 2’x1′ with some 2×4 offcuts as feet that I use as a little mobile workstation (I’ll post a pic when I get home, at work right now). I use it for fletching and broadhead sharpening, anywhere from a coffee table, to kitchen table to backyard table. Keeps the mess safely contained and gives me a workable space for little jobs. I just sit my bohning jig on the wood, don’t clamp it or anything.
Like DWC I keep my fletching bits in a little tool box (which is really just contained chaos), although my wife has a cool ‘sewing box’ that looks a lot like a small tackle box that I think would be perfect for neatly housing feathers, nocks, glue etc.
in reply to: Moose & Ticks #30597Etter, that is out of control man. I hope your allergy goes away.

Yeah, I have one of the split Fred Eichler tabs from 3 rivers. I think I actually get my best release from that, better than either of my gloves.

Dave, usually just when I think I’ve outsmarted a bunch of smart people, someone else points out how I’m just ignorant and missing some significant point. I’m glad the trend has continued :lol:
Ralph, I know a couple of guys my age that were in the scouts and I don’t think it is what it was in your day 😀
in reply to: Shooting Gloves #29837I started using a damascus glove a few months ago and it’s fine for lighter bows but I found my fingers would get worn out pretty quick shooting 60-70# bows. Got a duraglove with cordura tips like the other guys. I knew the cordura would be tough as I’d used military gear with that material and it’s pretty darn resilient. I’ve been really happy with it. I like the stiffer finger tips too as it feels like a smoother release, but that’s just hearsay really. It definitely feels fine on my dainty paws with the heavier bows though 😉
in reply to: Moose & Ticks #29545Ralph, we get paralysis ticks here on the east coast. Their paralysing agent can kill small dogs, cats, babies etc but on an adult they just make you go numb. When I was in school I used to walk through half a kilometre or so of scrub to get to the bus stop in morning and would fairly regularly pull ticks at school, particularly in the summer. Every now and then I’d get a tick off and it’d still be alive, so I’d drop it on an unsuspecting friend. Ahh, the innocence of an infectious disease spreading youth 😆
in reply to: Otzi Exhibition #29533That’s a really cool presentation of his equipment. That pencil design retoucheur is the stand out for me. Brilliant stuff.
I was impressed that their tests have shown you can easily and accurately take down game from 30-50m with his bow, those archaeologists must be better shots than me 😆
Thanks for sharing 😀

I would have thought something like increasing temperatures for a given area would be a rather reasonable explanation for animals extending their population range?
in reply to: Four new bows for friends… #27326They’re lucky to have a friend like you Cameron 😀

in reply to: From Master #26434I saw one of these on youtube the other day and thought it looked good too. I’m eager to see comments from folks who’ve used them.
in reply to: ok thinking of trying carbons again #25810Lucky for you there are plenty of wiser heads than mine kicking around here. Just about all of my nock related wisdom was imparted in my first post, someone who knows what they’re on about will be with you shortly I’m sure 😀
