Best of luck! I am really glad to see you touring again.
Yes Steve, a very famous Irish neighborhood. I saw a few Irish bars there, but the Irish population seems to have dwindled a bit 😉
I still have all my favorite hunting spots in Garrison too, so I’ll be all set!!in reply to: My Latest Project #59012My God, Steve, you are such an artist! These are my favorites of all the ones I’ve seen online or in your quiver! I think I will order a dozen of shafts from Cedarsmith of Colorado and make arrows for the upcoming season.
in reply to: Toxophile or Toxophilite? #57872They both mean the same. Often, the last couple of syllables give it up:
the “phile” is French
the “philite” is Englishin reply to: Who is your bowhunting hero and why? #34110Different Folks for different strokes as far as I’m concerned:
1. T.J Conrads for introducing me to traditional archery and teaching me all about it thru his Traditional Bowhunter handbook.
2. David Petersen for teaching me my place in the Wild and in the World as a Man, a Hunter and Traditional Bowhunter.
3.Ray Hammond, my day-to-day Archery and Bowhunting techniques “Guru”.
4. Ron LaClair, the archer I always try to emulate when I shoot an arrow.5. Glenn St Charles, Saxton Pope and Art Young, no comment.

in reply to: Shrew Haven West #25975Long live the Elk! Although I wish a certain 10yds broadside 5×5 were dead 😛
It was a glorious 5 days hunting, continuously getting into Elk, admiring them and learning their way of life.
Too many highlights to list’em all, but there are a few hunting events that I will remember forever:
Of course the encounter with the 5×5, but also the stalk of the harem of cows with their bull ( notice I didn’t say bull and his cows 😀 ) from 1/2 mile to 15 yards with 7 cows in full view, needing 2 more minutes for one of them to wander into a shooting lane, before the thermals thought otherwise and sent them all in a stampede, except one, who stopped 20 yards in front of me for a split second, and gave me the opportunity to snap-shoot right over her back!!
there was also the moment I was able to call a cow and calf to me, and heard their beautiful singing chirps…
Long live the Elk!in reply to: Bulls are Bugling #62317Another 3 dayzzz zigzagging the country, plus another 2 at home practicing with my Shrew and working on my house , and, for a week also, I will be going to sleep being serenaded by bugling bulls!!!:lol:

Its hard to explain. You’re either a longbow shooter or you aren’t. You’ll find out fast.
Same story here!
in reply to: Elk season starts next week #49036Good luck everybody! I have to wait 2 more weeks to be Wapitified!
in reply to: Has anyone used Zwicky Broadheads #41820Sounds like you’re talking about my beloved Eskimos!! they are great broadheads. I’ve never had one arrow that didn’t fly well with these babies at the end. I use them on whitetails and turkeys

I agree 100% with you David, and I’m one to have many complaints about California ( what is it with the K anyway??)
in reply to: Howard Hill Tembo Very Disappointing #38839I’ve always admired,… NO, revered Howard Hill shooting technique, but I always believed his Yupikayee hunting films sucked. Stick to his shooting prowess, and do buy into the “different time” point of view, and you will not be disappointed. These “different times” brought so many hateful, racist movies depicting Black, Asian, and American Indian people, among others, being idiots, murderers and thieves, that they make any Howard Hill film look like a harmless Discovery Channel Documentary in comparison.
I wish Art Young’s Alaska Adventure had been filmed 30 years later( I mean with sound and without the Charlie Chaplin frame jumping effect)… It would be traditional Archery’s ultimate masterpiece… in my book of course:)in reply to: missing hair on my forearms??? #37438after 2 weeks trying to sharpen those darn Grizzlies and just a few hair off my fore arm, and I mean 2 or 3 hair, I opted for the Abowyer brown bear “shavin’ sharp out of the box” broadheads and there you have it and so it goes. But I do look like my arms and legs got a wax job after I finished sharpen my Eclipses or Eskimos:lol:
