in reply to: Surprise Tree stand dangers! #16253
Even works on me Alex – as soon as the wife produces the oven cleaner and asks me to do the honours I drop off – down the pub and out of harms way 😆
in reply to: Silencer Mystery…? #16227Archer38 – do you just tie a couple of elastic bands directly to the string top and bottom? I find that elastic bands tend to perish and get brittle over time, how do they last on the bow? Or are you using tube rubber like the old timer?
in reply to: 1 finger over vs. 3 fingers under #16224Alex,
Best fix I got for keeping the arrow tight to the riser was from Moebow here at the tradbow forum – see his youtube videos – which involves keeping the string hand bent out towards the back of the hand when gripping the string. Upon drawing and relaxing the wrist the string twists clockwise towards the riser keeping the arrow on the shelf.
in reply to: Why do you hunt #12588For food, although I don’t depend on it, but primarily for the enjoyment which I think comes down to a connection with the wildlife around me and the primitive being within – but I ain’t gonna get all Freud about it! 🙄
in reply to: Any Georgia Bear Hunters Here? #12581Hi Etter. I’m a bit far from Georgia to be of help but keep us posted and good luck!
in reply to: catching my shirt? #12569Welcome to the forum corignani. Really hard to answer your question without actually seeing you shoot as the list of possible causes could include one or all of the following; sloppy release, bow arm torque, collapse after release, overly closed stance and/or wrong size shirt (just kidding). Want to clarify on your form overall?
in reply to: Can't help myself (I'm building again) #11695Superb sir! I love the different radii on the maple inserts of the riser – classy! And the antler is just the icing on the cake 8) Now where do I submit my order??? 😆
in reply to: My new bow for this year (added chrono numbers) #11678Beautiful bow and very individual looking. I love the colour variation in the riser. Hope you get to bring home a bear with it!
in reply to: New T/D Recurve #11667Sweet just got sweeter guys 😯 😀 8)
in reply to: sloppy release…help me… #9407Just reaffirming all of the above – pause at anchor and ensure NO creep, feel it in the BACK, then relax the fingers – don’t “release” – relax. String hand should stay close to your face and end up traveling backwards because of proper back tension, nothing else. Now if only I could get it right every time I’d be over in London picking up a medal 😛
in reply to: Hey-Dig this! Archery at the Olympics #63615My sister lives in London and managed to get tickets to the archery final. I couldn’t make it over because of other commitments, ugh, but my parents went and had a ball. There was a “try it” section where people could give archery a go which was a great idea. I don’t think the cricket chaps were too pleased with their hallowed ground being taken over but it did make for a pretty cool backdrop. Just read from another post that the South Koreans built a replica of Lords in preparation for the games – now that’s some serious prep!
in reply to: "Elevated" rest.. #63538Just to check, but are your arrows vaned? If so they’ll wreck a trad rest. I’ve used plastic adhesive rests in the past for vaned arrows which work ok but aren’t a precise solution. If they’re feathered I’d go along with Steve and check the spine in case you’re getting excessive friction. I currently use a Bear hair and leather rest bumped underneath with tie clip ends. Good luck!
in reply to: Soon to be home with me… #63529Sweet looking bow. All these new bows around is making me green 😀 Enjoy getting that new baby home and let us know how it goes…
