in reply to: A visit to the Great Lakes Longbow Invitational #33167Great to meet you guys too, most fun I have had shooting all summer, I wish we could have stayed longer and shot a round with you guys! maybe we could have smoked that youth course LOL! I never donated any arrows but LimbLover had the arrow gnomes steal one of his! It was great fun I will definitely go back next year!
in reply to: What type of bow does everyone shoot #31138Bama hunter longbow and a Bama Royal longbow both 50 @28 and I have Silver Creek longbow 54@28, do not shoot the latter that much!
in reply to: :( I can't shoot my bow #24386I feel your pain, I have been dealing with the dreaded tennis elbow for quite a while! You might try a couple of things, I wear a TE brace that goes right below my elbow on the forearm that seems to help alot! I also take Aleve every day and ice when it gets real sore! There is an acupuncture clinic here where i live and the gal says that she can knock it out with a few treatments so I may try that if it gets real bad! So far I have not had to quit shooting but some days are worse than others! It will go away if you cease the activities that cause it, however it seems to always come back! I am like you I like to shoot everyday so I deal with the annoyance! Good Luck

in reply to: Instinctive Shooting: Practice Distances #38188My neighbor has a sixteen target 3D course on his property that we shoot almost daily, we have targets at a lot of differant distances, one target ( fanned turkey) we can shoot from 5 yards to 50 yards! we also have kneel shots, shots with site windows thru trees,he has a lot of shot variables! So we practice all distances!
in reply to: String Placement On Fingers #36732Funny I have been going thru this string hook thing myself as of late! I have no pain issues but I have just went from shooting a tab to back to a glove! With the tab I was farther out on my fingertips, with the glove I am now using a much deeper hook which I am liking a lot better! What I discovered is that when I shoot with a glove and try a shallow hook, I was having problems with the arrow moving off the shelf on draw, went to a deeper hook on the string and it all came together when I was at Grayling shot great with both my bows! Now I concentrate on curling my fingers so the tips are slightly curled and pointed back towards me, I then relax my hand on draw! Its funny how little things can either really help or hurt your form in this sport!
in reply to: Michigan Traditional Bowhunters Jamboree #35569As I said it was a great day of shooting, My friends and I shot the 3D twice and the 2D only once! Hawley my 73 year old neighbor had emergency surgery for a burst appendix about a month ago and this is the most shooting he has done! we did not let him pull arrows or go up hills! Hawley has been shooting Trad bows for over 52 years and he was the one that mentored Limblover and got me into Trad shooting last year!I always want to shoot a Northern Mist longbow but never seem to shoot one at these events! If it wasn’t for owning 2 Bama longbows and my Silvercreek I definitly would buy one!
