Another safety concern- paratroopers nowadays stay clear of leather sheaths. A parachutle landing fall, very similar to falling from a tree stand, can easily push a knife through the sheath and into the jumper. Around one’s neck that can be a bad, deadly, event. Something cool can leave you cold- as in dead.

          Brother,
          Take a look around. I bought a nice 70# Super Kodiak from a fellow for $65. Patience…

Please send your Coors (Gold can , not light) to me.
I’ll use it to choke down a few Kingston Char-Coals with a Diet Pepsi chaser before I hit the woods.
PS- I don’t use the easy light (just in case I break wind).
I don’t believe a flame thrower is a legal means of taking game in North Carolina, maybe Texas?

Again, THANKS to EVERYONE for your replies. I laid off a few days & went to shooting 3-6 arrows each evening. I’m set and confident for Saturday morning’s opening of NC bow season.
                Happy Hunting! >>>>———

I shot one Zwickey Eskimo last year. I’ve eaten most of the deer. This year I’m shooting the “No Mercies” left bevel with LW fletched arrows. I’ve got 3 Eskimos left on broken wooden arrows. Anyone know the best way to get them off the arrows so that I can use them again? Thanks, Dave

I’ll be using my 70# Super Kodiak, aluminum GameGetters, & 165 grain Zwickey “No Mercies.” I just got 1 dozen of the arrows today. They are some sweet shooters.

                          Gents,
Thanks for the guidance- I’ve culled my quiver & I’m shooting less. I hope to be out on the 11th hunting whitetail.
Thanks to all, I get invaluable information and inspiration from these forums.

                            Duncan,

I agree. My friend who started me trad bow hunting last summer says, “shoot 3 arrows & quit.” Also, I hope to get out to Holly Shelter or the Croatan this season.

                            Take care,
                            Dave

I did throw 3 arrows, alike but different than what I’d been shooting all year, into the mix. Maybe that threw me off? I shoot instinctive- Maybe it is like pitching baseballs all season & putting a few softballs in the bag? Anyway, I’ve ordered a dozen new arrows, I’m going to watch my G Fred A video, & lay off for a week.

Started bow hunting last year- shot one arrow, all season, with a Zwicky broadhead. The venison is delicious and almost all gone. I’m stoked I’ll be hunting again in less than a month. This broadhead too came in the old “pink” paper packaging.

PS- I’ll be using “No Mercies” this season.

                                  USMC,
Thanks for the info, taking time to guide me in the right direction, and for your time in the fleet. I’m at Camp Lejeune & do hunt on base occasionally. I will contact the Keowee bowmen. Those Clemson, SC folks are VERY generous towards our Marines and sailors. The folks around Keowee Key especially.
