in reply to: Martin Archery #35250I like them
in reply to: something different #35242Hmmm, never hunted that far west. I know the middle section (Escanaba and north) have good deer numbers. Northeastern U.P. has the lowest numbersw in the state. I have only been in the Porcupine Mountains on thee west end. Have always thought it would be fun to stay in the Porkies and still hunt the trails.
in reply to: Homemade steel broadheads? #34083Lol, more questions tan I have answers for. I cut them out with my dremel. I never did weigh them, but I know that they don’t have a lot of weight. Installed on my wood arrows with sinew and pine pitch. I liked the thicker heavier blades made from the circular saw, but I think the bandsaw metal would hold up better. I have never shot an animal with them. My accuracy started to suffer too much, so I ditched the idea. The difficult part is getting them to stay in place in the arrows

in reply to: quad tracks behind every locked gate #29392Agreed. I cringe everytime I come across the damaged land they create. 👿
in reply to: Effective range based on accuracy #26533I try to get a few longer shots in at every practice. 40-50 yards, but always set up under 20yards. I often find myself instantly deciding whether to shoot or not without even considering the distance. Sometimes 15 yards doesn’t feel right, other times beyong 20 seems no problem. Longes shot I can think of was a paced 28yard heart shot on a doe. The minute I released, I thought ‘What am I doing shooting?’, but ended up perfect8)
in reply to: What are your plans? #26531My bear tag is good starting Sept. 14th. Then deer starts Oct 1st. Mid october 3 of us are heading down to my house in North Carolina for deer and hopefully some hogs:D
